Presidential PDA: Shakira & Barack Obama

Image: RevistaQuem.Globo.com.

We thought Gerard Pique was the only one vulnerable to Shak’s displays of affection, but no. If the Prez is fair game, we’re all at risk. Run, Kickettes, run for your lives!

Unless you like that kind thing, of course. In which case, form an orderly queue and remember to pucker up.

Wow, ladies! Claws out! You may not like her music, you may not like her man, but she's doing something good for the world here and, shockingly, unlike what you might expect from a WAG, she's not slathered in an inch of makeup and dressed in an Alaia bandaid dress to meet the President of the USA. I for one have a lot of respect for her. (I did long before she was splashed all over the football gossip world.) Who cares if her hair is dry!

You go girl! I wish her all the best in her work! And Shak, don't listen to all the bishes out there. At least you're making a difference.

She wants to play as political friendly. I don't like when people wants to do that.

Shakira was picked to be a member of his advisory commission on Hispanic education since she does a lot work to aid children in Latin America. She's not politically "endorsing" him.

I understand people don't like Shakira but I don't think you can fault her for this.

I don't believe in many celebrities charity works. To me is all demagogy.
        I'm very sceptical.

Shakira has aged badly. The relationship with Pique hasn't done her any good.

    • anon says:

I think it's mostly her hair. The blonde completely washes her out!

    • Ali says:

I think it's the hair too. It's not just the color, though: it looks dry and lifeless. IMO the lighter the hair is the more hydrated it has to be to look good and to make the person look young.

    • IrishBlue says:

      He's wearing her out lol.

    • Kristina says:

You know what, I don't think her looks matters to the kids that's she working with.

      • cupcakes says:

The older and more worn out she looks, the fewer records she sells, the more irrelevant she becomes, the less attention she can bring to her causes, the fewer fans there are to put their hands in their pockets to donate.

Her career has been built off her "sex appeal", once that's gone, so is she.

        • Kristina says:

Look closely at the picture. She's there. Kissing president Obama. Now, if she didn't matter to anyone I don't think she would be there. Ever heard of a second career? I think she just got one.

          • cupcakes says:

People pay attention to her solely because she's a POP STAR. No-one ever gives a damn what the on-the-ground "civilian" aid workers have to say and once her career is over she could be pictured kissing Jesus Christ himself and it won't matter because that photo will generate no interest, so the blogs & magazines won't post it, so no-one will see it and the message will be lost.

I'm not for a second saying her foundation doesn't do good work, I'm saying in order to have any say in what happens in this shallow, materialist world, you have to stay relevant!

            • Kristina says:

So mother Teresa was a looker, was she? How many "civilian aid workers" do you see in blogs and in magazines anyway? The world is what we make it. If we want it to be materialistic and shallow, it will be. Lots of people have used their stardom to do other stuff, even when their looks faded and they didn't make anymore movies or they didn't sell anymore records, or whatever. And even if this won't last at least some good came out of it. And I don't think Obama picked her to be a member on his advisory board if he thought that it would be of no consequence. And what's more: You can BECOME relevant!

I know you all probabably will react on my mother Teresa comparison, but if you do you're not getting the point.

President Obama is in Columbia for the Summit of the Americas. Given that Shakira is big in Columbia, I have to suspect that this was a political move on Obama's part as he is courting the Latinos to gain more votes for the upcoming election.

    • MsMe says:

Yes I agree. She is still pretty, but not stunning like she used to be. Her facial features have aged. Well, we all age and she still looks ok.
