Product Shill: Gerard Pique Promos His Book

YouTube Preview Image

If you’re anything like us, you wake up every day wondering: WWGPD?

While we haven’t been granted the complete level of insider access to his life (and pantaloons) that’s necessary to feel complete as people, we do know what he was up to yesterday: doing the product promo thing for his new book, Viatge d’anada i tornada (Round Trip).

At the launch event in Parc de la Ciutadella in Barcelona (which was well attended by fans and teenage girls with their hormones in overdrive), Gerard took a few questions from the crowd, saying he thought Messi was the best player in the world, but remaining silent when the Kickette-planted stalker asked “Will you marry me?”

Perhaps he’s still weighing up the offer.

FYI, when asked how he felt being such a massive Catalan sex symbol, he vaguely replied, “I don’t know what to say.” Psssht. GP, we know you ain’t shy boy. But we appreciate the coy efforts.

thanks D!

  2. Saw this coming. Of course Beckham was gonna get mad. I had to laugh at him taunting Serioux. I do love Beckham as a player, even if I don't think he's the sexiest man on earth. :P Side Note: I hate the US commentary for every Becks game.

  3. crissie says:

Hello, is the book still available for purchase – the English version? Is there a link you can share? :)

  4. Little Miss Arsenal says:

    *sigh* he's too cute

  5. Pique says:

He's face looks a bit diffrent. eye area and nose..
I think it's because of the injury from Hercules match he's face is bit swallowed.
    still very cute, though.

At first time I saw him, I actually didn't think he's handsome at all.
Thought just a giant beard man who dedicated himself in the pitch,
but the weird part is I couldn't get him out of my mind since then.
    Even dreamed about him.
I didn't even watch La Liga (I only watched EPL),
but now I don't miss a single Barcelona match.
I don't know what's going on with my brain. lol

I wish I live in Barcelona. in the future maybe…

    Q) Oh man, I really need to learn Catalan.
    How much diffrent from Spanish?
If I could speak Spanish, can I understand Catalan?

    • Pique_Xavi says:

First of all, lucky for those like us that get to dream of men like this. I had myself a couple of dreams of Pique and they were good ;) I last night had a dream of my other spanish "lover" Xavi and it was good too:) I guess my brain works harder when I am asleep which is something I knew since I have such vivid dreams in one night and remember them always in the morning.

Anyway about your question: I'm Mexican and I speak both english and spanish and I do understand 95% of what is said in Catalan but I think its easier to read it. I took some classes in french 100 million years ago but I can't read and someone said Catalan is a mixed of spanish, italian, french (really obvious actually) and maybe some portguese. But I'm not sure if its like that for everyone else who speaks spanish after all some words in what is known as castellano I don't know. Some particular words have different meanings in many countries.

  6. MissTorres says:

Wow Spanish is one of the most sexiest languages on Earth. I really have to learn it because I also love the Spanish NT and love traveling to Spain. ♥

  7. ZaharaSpain NTBarca* says:

    pique, mi amor!!
    i need that book!!
i understand spanish but not catalan, its pretty similar though. but he speaks at supersonic speed so i dont understand much

    • cherryboomboom says:

I'm so proud of myself , I can speak Spanish , English , french and Arabic !
I just need to learn Portuguese and Italian and I'm good to go !!!

  8. Pique~Xavi says:

Did I call it or what? So not sure how they missed this when this video was edited but remember when Cescy got his twitter? Well later on someone noticed he had posted a pic of Pique and himself and I said, I bet Cescy asked to take the pic for his twitter. In Pique's own words that's exactly what happened. So the question was asked whether or not he would get a FB or Twitter like Cesc. He said "i don't know" and it sounded like no but I think he would keep it private if he ever did have either. He said he didn't like the fact that the picture of him and Cescy was all over the newspaper the next day, he asked where the privacy was. Oh Pique. You can have your private account, just make you I get added, lol. One can dream right? If anyone is interested in seeing the video of this is on a tumbler. http://www.cescpiquebarca.tumblr.com the girl has translated both in english and spanish along with other little cute things during the interview.

  9. VeNia says:

wow Gery i never thought i would be standing alive after that!i'm gonna go lie down now..

  10. Lotte (Zlatanista) says:

I always thought he was good looking, and he is a Barca boy and all that, but when i saw this i fell a little bit in love. He is more cute than sexy, i think. And it takes courage to write a book, especially at his age. A book is a very personal thing (even if it´s not a biography) and you really open yourself up to criticism. I guess he doesn´t chicken out that easy. As we have seen a number of times on the pitch… Take care of yourself Gerri, we want you in one piece!!

    • taskeen says:

Too true, especially about him staying in one piece! Lol I only disagree about one thing though; GP has a whole lotta sexy going on :)

  11. IrishBlue says:

Oh goddddd what a sexy language that sexy boy speaks……rawr

  12. Ashlee says:

God, he's so handsome. I cannot even.

  13. orangerie says:

puyol wrote the introduction to his book :)

  14. Okaaayy .. I don't like how you change the comment section :(

Anyway … since I dont wanna click reply on every post , what is WWGD? at first I though it was Why whould gerard pique die .. But I dont think its that .. Well at least I hope not ..

And I'm sure when pique was saying "I dont know what to say "
Im sure he was thining " Hell yeah bitches !!! I'm THE sex symbol yaheeeard !!! "

  15. Sinderella says:

The book is for charity, which makes it a lot less lame. I was in the Parc de la Ciutadella that day and had no clue he was even there so I am bummed that I missed it! Poor guy seems to be injury prone – in the piece his grandfather talks about how he was young and visiting his grandparents at their beach house and he went out to the pool but fell several metres and landed on his head – he was in a coma for 2 days! So the crack to the forehead last week isnt so bad in comparison.

  16. Ingrid says:

this is why i'm learning spanish! oh gosh could he be any cuter?

    • yasemin says:

      He's speaking Catalan

      • Pique~Xavi says:

He is speaking both Spanish and Catalan.

      • Pique_Xavi says:

When he's talking with the reporter he is speaking spanish. Not sure but this same show had problems with Pique before because he wasn't speaking castellano to some lady reporter last year. 3:24 So I think that's why the reporter guy made sure to speak spanish/castellano. If you noticed Pique is a little quiet because there has been some bad blood between him and the guy at the studio. He also asked if he would discuss the book with some lady and Pique says "si si no hay problema" in a tone of voice that you know he said it to be polite but in no way he would go there to talk with these people.

  17. yumnapique says:

    *sigh*

  18. taskeen says:

As I type GP is on tv looking lovely as ever in the waka waka video

    To do list:

    1) Learn spanish

    2) Get over there asap

    Lol

(I'm not sure why but its not allowing me to comment on my computer, something about a connection timeout)

  19. Piquette says:

    -sigh- http://cescpiquebarca.tumblr.com/post/1127724502/…

He SOUNDS sexy too. I remember the first time I heard Becks speak and how underwhelming and meek his voice sounded, not Pique though! ; )

  20. Steph says:

haha, Pique is too cute. :) I loved how he just laughed and didn't answer that marriage proposal! lol. Seeing this makes me realize how bad I want to go to Spain, already! I seriously just want to move there. :D

    • Pique~Xavi says:

I want to go to Spain too, lol. Specially now that I hear that my other favorite Spanish man is single now. When they are single I imagine they will go around town to have fun which means lots of sittings which is good for us fans, lol.

      • Steph says:

Seriously. It's beautiful and these guys are all there! :) haha. Really? It's perfect, then! lol, I agree. That's definitely great news for us! ;) I'm more of a Cesc girl, but Pique is awesome. He seems like he'd be a ton of fun to hang out with.

    • Zahara (Spain NT, Barca lover) says:

ME TOOO!!i am sooo moving to spain, no seriously, im considering it.
it perfectly fits the description of ‘place of my dreams’

1.spain NT lives there, barca too!!
      2.i can speak spanish!!(well,pretty much)
      3.hospitable people
      4.beautiful weather
      5.great culture and atmosphere
6.i feel like i belong there, not just coz of the football)

  21. Izzy says:

He is so adorable and i like it when he speaks catalan even though i don't understand a thing, still it sounds pretty hot! i am now really intrested in learning that very sexy sounding language!!! LOL

  22. C16 says:

Holy cow!!! What happened to the comment format? Confused!!! o.O

Sometimes I feel like an awful Madridista knowing I love him this much, and it's not like it's a secret, it's a FACT, everybody knows it. The worst part is that I want to feel guitly but I can't. LOL
You can judge me, no problem. lol :D

  23. <Espana3 says:

    He is so adorable! <3

  24. God, the book thing is so old!!!! This is kinda boring. Although he is cute and I'm completely mad for the man I've never understood why everyone says he's a sex symbol? I kinda feel he's more of a geeky cute guy than a sex bomb, like Ramos or Borriello. Take for instance, the fact that he's a CB. Aren't they the ones supposed to be kicking people's butts all the time? Instead he gets a new wound every two or three games. See? Pure logic. (LOL)

    • Pique~Xavi says:

Not everyone says that, as you just pointed it out. Besides, I don't find the Ramos a sex symbol like other women here so its a good thing we don't all have the same taste in men because it would mean a bunch girls would fight over just a particular type of man. And he gets wounded in my opinion because he goes out there disregarding his physical appearance which some players don't do and he's pretty tough too you don't see him complaining much and gets up and goes back on the field. Others just complain for no reason to make team or get the rival player carded. The only thing that is logical here is that even people who aren't into Pique much appreciate the sexy geek that he is and if you don't that's okay too. I'm sure you have the one guy you like to drool over. Night.

      • You know what's totally hilarious??
I LOVE him! (And Ramos, and Borriello.)
Isn't nature amazing for making men as good looking as them? "To each their own," you say. Damn right!
On the other hand, I was being ironic. I actually really appreciate his attitude when defending and his daring advances into the other side of the pitch, to see if he can get a goal for his beloved Barça (whether they're winning or losing)! I think it's brilliant and terribly cute that he wrote a book just because his parents said they liked it, and I seriously hope that one day I'll get to see him play and maybe even meet him.
So, guess what?? I think we might be on the same boat here (well, except for the Ramos part)!
        Thanks for your kind reply!

    • yumnapique says:

The way he gets injured and has blood running down his face just makes him even hotter. Sex symbol? Hell yeah

    • farah says:

i dont find ramos hot. to me he looks too much of a horse to ever be a sex symbol. give me pique over him anyday. to each her own.

    • omgg hes like really hot.
i think that being a CB, he has a excellent body
like hes 6'3 and look quite proportionate
and if piquenbauer wears bright red jeans….
      ay dios mio.

    • Andrea says:

He is definitely sexy. No doubt about it.

  25. tigerS says:

    awwww

    He's incredible..

  26. Izzie says:

something is wrong with his nose! you see? he looks now a bit like elephant man xD and i say that cos I know how he looks normal (I'm a fan, obsessed watching his pictures all day long XD)

  27. CrazyForNando says:

I googled the name of the book and found this:
    http://www.grup62.cat/docroot/grup62/pdf/1-cap-Vi…

This is a translation of a small part….

" I had never realized that the freedom to spend the afternoon with friends and play with them. That sometimes it was a false, but it is clear that all this effort and sacrifice that I made as a child has been worthwhile. "

    AWWWWW PIQUE!!!!

    • JVD says:

I read stuff like that and I think about how much he (and all of the other elite footballers) must really love the game. Oh and I agree, Awwww Pique!

    • Oh man, tell me you've found a little more than the first chapter!! I've been searching the hell out of the internet and have found NOTHING more than those 17 pages. I'm going nuts.
BTW, i share the Nando crazyness too xD

  28. Zinny says:

What the HELL?! I've never ever ever found him attractive and now I see him in this video and the boy looks foiiiine! I mean gorgeous. What is going on? Ha you could tell he was a bit embarassed of the fangirls, though.

  29. CrazyForNando says:

He makes me squeal like a school girl!! Sooooo ADORABLE!!!! I want to buy this book even though I won't be able to read it LOL! I really need to lean Spanish!

  30. JVD says:

*Swoons* He is just so incredibly… arg. He could hold an event where he just stood, smiling and I'd pay good money to attend. Having said that, he's 23 and aside from football (to my knowledge) hasn't done that much, so whats the book about? Is it too much to hope its just pictures of him traveling???

  31. Lotte (Zlatanista) says:

Age has nothing to do with it. Everybody´s got a story to tell.

  32. Rachel S says:

Eh, he seems a bit young to write a book about his life yet, but he's so beautiful it doesn't matter. Wish he didn't speak Catalan, then I'd be able to understand him better :/

  33. MrsVilla-to-be says:

So young and already has enough material for a book! Wow! I shamefully admit that it took me a while to realize how hot this guy looks. I`ve been entertained by other Spanish ballers but now I finally see Gerard in all his glory:) He`s got beautiful smile (among other things)

  34. Pique♥Xavi says:

Wow! Now this is the way I want to start the day :) Though I had seen this before I don't seen it all over again. His way of talking is sexy in itself. And I understand completely why he couldn't answer the sex symbol question because all of us have already said everything there is to say and the only thing left to "say" is for us women to make funny and delicious noises whenever we see him on tv disregarding the fact there might people around us. Not that it happened to me, tee hee* I'm liking this new comment process, many times I wanted to give you gals thumbs up now I can do it! but THUMBS UP to God, Mr Joan Pique and Mrs Bernabeu

  35. SpanishFootieLover says:

gahhh so dreamy. love him! did anyone else besides me finally notice him for all of his awesomeness in the WC? I totally fell in love with him then. someone needs to translate the entire book :)

  36. @DebStimson says:

but remaining silent when the Kickette-planted stalker asked “Will you marry me?”

    ROFL!

  37. Eebza says:

OKAY WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THIS NEW COMMENTS FORMAT??
    its confusing…
    i can't see all the comments…
it was normal this morning…care to explain, kickette??

    • Simone says:

I'm getting used to it just now, before i was able to see all the comments which was the fun part. The funny comments you know. This system is much better to reply.

  38. Fer says:

    what WWGPD means?

  39. Rossanera says:

I've never been on the Pique bandwagon, but ay dios mio, what a smile that man has! Wicked!

And what the hell is going on with the comments format? I am so confused!

  40. jellenp says:

Is anyone else only seeing some of the comments on this post? Mine seems to have disappeared, and the format has changed…don't know if it is something going on with my software.

    • kickette_admin says:

We are currently updating our commenting system – all the old comments will soon pop back up – there are a lot of them to process :)

  41. Niina says:

Anyone know if he can actually write? Or is this one of those books where there's his name on the cover but was really written by an unsuccessful journalist?

    • doris86pl says:

he wrote this book, in some interviews I've read that first he wrote it for his parents only, but they encourage him to publish it

      • Niina says:

That's cool. Kind of amazing actually that one person can be as awesome a footballer as he is AND be able to publish a book. AND look gorgeous when soaked in blood.

  42. JV says:

*Swoons* He is just the most… arg. He could host an event where he just stood, smiling and I'd pay good money to attend. BUT… he's 23 and (to my knowledge) hasn't done that much outside of football so what in the world could that book be about if it isn't just photo's of him???

  43. poprockprincess says:

    He is so adorable.

  44. Alvedon says:

Eff you, 5 years of high school French! Spanish is where its at!
Ungggg….why is this man so fine, and why can't I have him?

  45. meh says:

his books probably full of shit, but what the hay! he's nice to look at ;) )

    • ourmrsreynolds says:

i hear he wrote it himself? as in, there's no professional writer/journalist in the byline. which means one of two things: (1) he's such a good writer he doesn't need help. (2) his book's full of shit. as you say

  46. batso says:

I wanna learn what has he wrote in this book!!!
He is just 23 years old :(

  47. Leya says:

omg, he's so adorable. I really need to move to Spain. I wish I spoke Catalan….
Dude, my spanish is a little rusty, but did he say he was in a coma for two days?!?!?!?!
Kickette, I must say, in the morning I don't wake up thinking "What Would Gerard Pique Do?", so much as "Is Gerard Pique Going To Be Alive Today?"

    • marleynne says:

yes, his grandfather said that Pique was in a coma for 2 days! :(
i don't like it when he gets hurt!

will see him in December! :D

  48. miss violet says:

    haaach, beautiful. beeaautiful.
what a tempting way to practice my rudimental spanish.
often, when i see him on pics i wonder what the hell attracts me to him. i always remember, when i see him on video.
    he's just soooo fine. <3

  49. aps says:

I just love the Spanish language. So sexy. Need to go learn it.

    • Pique♥Xavi says:

Yes APS I totally agree with you because I tell people in english you can say you like someone in many ways and know how much a person likes you by the words they choose to say. In spanish there aren't many words to express you really like someone but the ones there are like "te amo" o "te quiero" well I have never said TE AMO to anyone because to me I LOVE YOU doesn't even come close to the spanish version. Love it. I think one year it was voted the most romantic language.

  50. Iviiii says:

He is so adorable. I wish I knew Spanish…

  51. Jellenp says:

    Am slightly perturbed that the average age of his adoring fan base appears to be about 12. Looks like the same crowd you’d see at a Justin Bieber event. {Older woman suddenly embarrassed about woman drooling over younger footballers}

    • Lady says:

i agree. i think mature women doesn't chase him on his book promo (e.i Shakira). but then, who could've resist such big blue eyes like that? not to mention that scruffy look and his boyish-goofy face. too hot to handle. Pique if you're reading this, meet me at Le Meridien tomorrow.

      • Pique_Xavi says:

Not sleepy and decided to read the comments… by far yours has made me laugh not because what you say is ha ha funny but because I feel the same way. I imagine Pique being a closet nerd and I love that about him. As a nerd myself I love nerds who are willing to show me new things. He's a dream to me. I now find myself smiling whenever I turn my comp on because his face covers my screensaver…. Aaaaw Pique. But I guess women his age aren't interested because we are either too old or they are too young. Either way I don't care, I love Pique and my diamond shape head Xavi.

  52. Vi says:

Why do people write books at 23? Seriously?

    • yellowmellow says:

that's exactly what I thought, too.

What would a 23 year old have to say? Please.

Someone is milking the cash cow while he is successful.

    • Jules says:

I'd buy it if featured tips such as how to get blood to clot quicker after being beaten down by the opposition or how to make white soap opera coma style head bandages look sexy.

    • doris says:

it’s not his biography, it’s rather book about his dreams he had as a little boy and how he managed to make dreams come true, both on and off the pitch. I didn’t read it yet, but heard that it’s quite nice and that he wrote it by himself, first it was for his parents only but they convinced him to publish it.

  53. cr7isgod says:

Its funny how many of his fans seem to be prepubescent teenagers.

  54. Adonia says:

anyone else think he looks different after his injury from saturdays game?

  55. Lisa says:

those kids at the beginning were so cute. Such a good-looking nation isn't it? I hope this book has an English version, I would definately buy it.

  56. Lady says:

oops typo, i mean i.e. i can't type properly while seeing his face.

  57. QueenBee says:

hi baby. your eyes look tired but doesn't make you less hotter than ever.

  58. DJ says:

I LOVE HIM!!! his smile is so adorable when the girl asks him to marry her! i wonder if he wrote anything about cesc in his book…normally he cant give an interview without mentioning him once (FABRIQUE IS LOVE)

  59. gina-liza says:

    wow, he can write?

    Who would have thought?

    • Jellenp says:

Hmmm. I doubt he wrote it. But his photo looks very nice on the cover!

    • Pique~Xavi says:

Well if you knew about his family you probably wouldn't doubt that he can write. Writing a book isn't easy. I don't know if he had help or not since he is pretty busy but his family is pretty smart and the guy probably spends some time off the field thinking about what has happen in his life whether it be good or bad and wrote things down and soon after he had enough to publish some of his thoughts with or whithout help from someone. If you see my comments sometimes (most actually, lol) I write a lot. I changed my name but if you ever saw ILoveFootballILoveFootballPlayers well I wrote a couple of "novels" myself, lol. People are being to harsh on him. I love to read and sadly you can tell that many writers aren't that good but still get published. I don't know if his books are good or not but I will buy one and find out for myself. But the good thing about it is that he's a football player not a writer so he won't starve to death if it doesn't sell well. And he is helping out people with down syndrome with 50% of what the book sells. One of the reasons I love the guy, like his family is always helping out for those who can't speak for themselves.

  60. Melanie says:

    omggg hes sooo hot.

    i wish i understood spanish a tad better :(

  61. Céline says:

hahaha omg! hes sooo funny. lmaoo ofcourse he knows what to say,, Hes soo cuteee <3
