Product Shill: Fabio Cannavaro for Disney
Dear readers, this month launches the beginning of a global celebration: “The Year of Mickey”.
You didn’t have this in your diary already? Never mind. In celebration of this momentously meaningless declaration, Disney have asked a group of celebs, sports figures and singers to redesign Mickey’s ears.
Interestingly, some of them said yes. We’re assuming life-long access to Princess Jasmine’s castle must have been on offer.
All the designs (including one from baller fav, Phil Collins) will be on display at Disneyland in Paris and they’ll be auctioned off for charity later this year.
Fabio Cannavaro was the only footballer to be photographed wearing his design. (Zinedine Zidane and Thierry Henry also took part.) Perhaps the execs at Disney knew if anyone could pull of this look, it was Canna. Of course, in this case, “pulling it off” equals “looking dorked out and geeked up.“

I love Fabio Cannavaro, so… am totally okay with him wearing Mickey Mouse ears. I love Zidane’s design though… that’s almost cool.
