Puma Kit Launch: We Were There In Spirit
Steven Pienaar isn’t smiling in this photo. This grimace is actually quite normal for someone being deprived of oxygen. Don’t ask how we know that. Image: Tom Dulat/Getty Images for Puma.
Yet another important engagement we missed recently was the launch of Puma’s kits for the Africa Cup Of Nations at the London Design Museum. This was annoying for many reasons, but most notably because of the hot player quotient the sponsor had gathered for the event.
Samuel Eto’o is just about to pass out. You can see it in his eyes. Images: REUTERS/Olivia Harris.
Steven Pienaar, Samuel Eto’o, Yaya Toure and Asamoah Gyan (left) were among the Puma players once again showing off their pecs in the suitably skin-tight apparel, which, incidentally, we heartily approve of.
Although, when you consider that host nations Gabon and Equatorial Guinea are prone to some light precipitation in December/January when the event takes place, we feel it might’ve been prudent to throw a bucket of water over the shirts to see how they stand up.
Just for research purposes, of course.

Yaya Toure… Crikey… Where have you been all this time????????
let Pienaar out of that shirt! haha
Aw that's my home boy, really happy to see a fellow South African on the site. He's so cute!!
Aww, Stevie P's smile is super adorable and he's pretty awesome.
I wonder if Puma secretly hates South Africa. All da kits they designed for NT ever since they started sponsoring da team are hideous! The new shirt is definitely not on my christmas wish-list.
Good food for the eyes this morning!
Wow, that shirt in the first pic is tight! Kickette, where's your petition to make all countries/teams follow suit?
yeah, i would sure love if USA and Spain followed suit… I might die of amazement if I see bocanegra in a tight shirt…
