UPDATE: Interestingly enough, Amir is denying that he told Grazia magazine that the relationship is a sham.
Few points:
1. She’s not a wag anymore.
2. Anyone think the timing is suspicious? I truly believe she left Ashley for him, not for Ashley’s “affairs”.
3. She’s ADDICTED to attention. She’s dying of malaria, and then she’s calling paps to take her picture on her first outing to a starbucks?
4. He’s gay. I don’t think I need to list a reason here.

I don't get it…of all the men in the world this woman could have, she chooses derek off 'dancing with the stars'?? to me, it's so bizarre, it has to be real. no PR person in their right mind would choose somebody no one knows to pair cheryl up with!

Claire, I totally agree. Kickette, please; I know you and some of the other readers love her but Ms. Cole isn't a WAG anymore and I am just tired of seeing her here. I won't go into the reasons, I'm not a total hater, she's a gorgeous gal but she's seriously annoying and I dread the day she does break into the US market and suddenly I'll have to see her on Dlisted and on the tabloids in the markets. As an American I feel we have enough overexposed fame*****s like Pariste, Blohan and the whole awful Kardashian family and the mess that is the Jersey Shore. Enough is enough….

This has to go down in history as one of the weirdest and least effective PR stunts ever, haha. Like, with the demographic that Derek Hough appeals to (read: that section middle-aged people who watch Dancing with the Stars–seriously, who else bothers with that show?), what was the angle?
It's more confusing to me than Oezil at Real Madrid, and that one really boggles the mind.
I couldn’t agree more. I think she found one of the few people the American public cares about less than her.
O/T: Ditto on Real! While I think it will be fun to watch him on the field with all their other talent, they have yet to do anything but replace (with Ozil now signed someone is losing their starting job) perfectly good players with slightly better ones. How is any of this going to help them score against/beat Barca???

Amir Khan should concentrate on boxing, one day he's hanging out with that woman Katie Price, she's called I think? and then he's having dinner with Cheryl Cole. This guy's got great potential for much greater things…I know it from that highly publicized Malignaggi fight, amazing stuff!
and about Derek Hough he's not a well respected dude, falls under the category of Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag and what's their face Snookie and The Situation…sadly, I know about these worthless people 'coz they're just about everywhere on the media for doing absolutely nothing!!!

Right? It should, but as long as there’s pics with Cheryl and going out with her and all, it works. But the thing is that there’s been TONS of rumors that he’s gay, so yeah. :/
It won’t keep the paparazzi away, but it makes the attention much more manageable.
Before this faux-mance, the tabloid attention on Cheryl’s love life was very intense. They were pairing her up with any guy who was within 50ft of her… especially Will.I.Am, who was saying some pretty cringe-worthy puppy dog stuff. It was embarrassing and Cheryl had no control over her image/brand.
With this faux-mance and Derek at her beck & call, the tabloid attention on Cheryl’s love life isn’t nearly as intense and Will.I.Am has backed off. Now Cheryl has much more control over her image/brand.
For someone like Cheryl, she’ll never want the paparazzi to totally go away. The more control she has over her love life, the more control she has over the attention it brings.
