QOTD: Pole Dancing in Private

Question:  Which baller and his wife hit the Spearmint Rhino strip club recently and spent three hours in a private room with some of the ‘entertainment’?

Answer after the jump.

imageCan you believe it?

Apparently when David walked in, the place looked like a “jail break” situation.

Kickettes, you know at least one dancer lost a glass-bottomed platform in the mad scramble, right?

I was a drug addict/alcoholic Hispanic woman until two years ago. After a failed marriage and a lousy home life I ran away from home. At nineteen, I was living on the streets in whatever city I arrived at. My sole goal was to get high no matter what the cost. I got pregnant. When my daughter was 2 months old I got back into the drug scene and started getting real suicidal. I got put into a mental facility and received shock treatments. Nothing helped. At thirty I got hooked on crack, left my girls and attempted suicide again, only to wind up in another loony bin. I finally met a woman who led me to Jesus as the only hope for my life. Today He is my everything. Every dream, every goal, I have in life is to please Him. Irene. “He forgave us all our sins…“

  5. what they do in pvt. is their business.

  6. They were there for a crew member’s b’day party. And some tab has Mrs B quoted about them having a great time going out the past few nights without the boys along the next morning. Good for them.

Here here freddie girl! Well said.

I am not an exotic dancer but I did dance as a Brazilian showgirl in Paris for a few years, leading everyone to do the free association of: showgirl = stripper = prostitute, and it BUGGED me! People like to assume things which is incredibly annoying. No one even bothered to take into account my degree or my day job as an executive at a world famous ngo. I take S Factor classes now and I am again bothered that everyone is making that same assumption.

Thanks for articulating a slice of reality here, even if others chose to stay set in their ideas.

Fouth Official, I feel I have to offer another point of view.  I worked at a Rhino for years including this one.  Not all the dancers have the problems you suggest.  I’m not going to defend all dancers because some certainly do; but to suggest most of them do or say that all clubs are run by the same type of people is a gross generalization.  I have been able to travel and have gotten myself through school by dancing and I’m proud to say that I did it myself without the help of a man or my parents.  That is a bad thing?  I cannot see how it is.  Please, please do not come on and say something like, I could’ve done it another way without ‘degrading’ myself.  You show me a job where I would’ve been able to make hundreds, sometimes thousands a week only working a few times a week so I could spend the rest of it studying and I would have gladly done it.  For the record, Spearmint Rhinos are very professionally run and drug and alchohol abusers are not tolerated.  Not only are they ‘let go’ from the club they are often blacklisted from working at any other Rhino location.  Only in the London Rhino did I see a lot of drinking from the girls but that’s probably only because alchohol is such a huge part of club and pub culture there.

Also, one of the top Rhinos here in LA is run by a smart women with a business degree.  Me, personally, I love to see stuff like that. I think it’s great to see a woman succeeding in an arena where mostly men do.

Oh yeah, and most couples that do go in; usually the guy pays for a dancer to dance for his partner while he watches, not the reverse.

Perhaps you should go to a Rhino or any big name club and see for yourself how not a big deal it really is.

For the record I saw far more drug use and promuiscuity going on at the finance company I worked at than any club I’ve ever worked at.

Also remember, I’m not coming on to start trouble but I felt I needed to show another point of view. Just as you think it’s not a ‘healthy’ enviroment and I agree that it can be if you’re a weak person, I believe that you can utilize the clubs for your benfit if you go in to make your money and mind your business.  Dancers get a bad rep; sometimes deservadly so but to not defend the ones I’ve met and am still friends with would have been wrong.  Trust me, there are just as many well-adjusted dancers who move on to more ‘respectable’ careers as there are ******-up ones, you just never hear about the ‘normal’ ones, because it’s so much easier and snarky to believe the bad stories.

    Juicy tidbit….you girls want to meet all your favorite ballers?  Dance at the London Rhino or Stringfellows <img src="; width="19" height="19" alt="wink" style="border:0;" /><img src="; width="19" height="19" alt="wink" style="border:0;" />

Um yes, Spearmint Rhino is a ‘Gentleman’s Club’ so yes, it has female dancers. It’s also a huge corporation that started out here in Southern California and now has locations all over the world like Vegas, London, Birmingham, Prague, Moscow and Melbourne.

Sorry for the long post but I kept thinking of things that I wanted to say and/or clarify.

I wrote my masters thesis on the commerical sex trade involving children. I came to the same conclusion that you did.  Actually by the end of my research I advocated the legalization but strict regulation of adult prostitution.

The stigmatization of women working in the sex industry allows for huge amonts explotation of both children and adults because the basic work is viewed as shameful or degrading.  The stigma also allows for the criminal element to flurish because because it is so under-regulated but involves “throw-away” members of society.

The reality is that the sex industry, as the saying goes, is the world’s oldest profession. There will always be a strong market for it. Responsible/professional businesses like the Rhino (althought, I have no direct experiance)provide the type of environment that makes it safe for the women involved and guareentee that children will not fall pray.

Thanks for sharing your experiances freddie.

  10. freddiegirl says:

That’s a shame..:(  I guess we’ll have to respectfully disagree.

  11. freddiegirl says:

Fourth Official, I was always thankful for those who chose to spend their money on me as it went straight into the bank for school.  I am aware that are some shady clubs and club managers out there.  Believe me, when I made the desicion to strip I researched it and visited a lot of clubs.  It wasn’t made lightly.  Perhaps strip clubs in Canada are a completely different animal than here in the States or SoCali to be more specific.  I can’t say becuase I’ve never stripped or even wanted to strip in Canada.
Brandy, I feel your pain. Many still did make the jump from stripper=prostitute…ugh!  Again, prostitution is something that isn’t tolerated in the Rhino chain.  You can get fired just by handing out your number.

  12. The Fourth Official says:

I respect your perspective, freddiegirl.  My opinion is unchanged.  Peace.

  13. The Fourth Official says:

Brandy, being set in one’s ideas does not necessarily make those ideas incorrect.  Google “strip club + organized crime”, or “exotic dancer + addiction”, and you will see what the vast majority of women who work in strip clubs must deal with:  an unsafe, unhealthy work environment (which was the point of my first post).  I’m sure Freddie Girl has had a rewarding experience; I am also sure that for the majority of dancers, who do not work in so-called “upscale”  clubs,  a “slice of reality” includes daily abuse and exploitation.  For example, police here in Canada believe that the VAST majority of strip clubs are owned by the Hell’s Angels, who use the clubs to launder money, and for drug and human trafficking.  Gee, talk about a fun bunch of bosses, eh?  I don’t judge the women.  I do speak out against the violence and humiliation that accompanies their attempt to support themselves and their children.  So next you think it would be fun to blow a few dollars/pounds on a “harmless” night at a strip joint, remember whose wallet really benefits.

  14. The Fourth Official says:

Perhaps it was their regular book club meeting and they spent three hours discussing “The Gathering” over tea and scones?

    OMG!!!!  <img src="; width="19" height="19" alt="big surprise" style="border:0;" />

If I was Posh theres NO WAY in hell id share Becks!!

I really find this hard to believe, or maybe I just dont want to believe it.

  16. tammyv says:

Well now.. not surprising actually. 3 hours is an impressive amount of time though

  17. Bella says:

They were there for a crew member’s b’day party. And some tab has Mrs B quoted about them having a great time going out the past few nights without the boys along the next morning. Good for them.

  18. Gina says:

We’re assuming Spearmint Rhino is a female strip joint. Maybe Becks likes to buy his wife lapdances, or whatever the male stripper equivalent is.

Although why the F she’d want to spend time watching random men in g-strings is beyond me wink

  19. Robin says:

Mrowr! I think it’s harmless fun. Posh picked up on some good dance moves and I bet the music rocked. Nothing wrong with it. And I would have paid lots of money to see Becks do a pole dance.

  20. brandy says:

Or maybe the relationship is so secure nothing can lure him away….
Relationships can involve harmless fun too you know. We had a co-ed birthday party once at a strip club and had a blast. No one went home with a stripper instead of their wife/girlfriend…

  21. tammyv says:

Depending on how old you are (and I am assuming over 18 – Please god), a club can be a lot of fun for a girl and entertaining as hell

  23. DizzeeBrunette says:

I reckon Posh is trying too hard…why would you put yourself in that situation? Then again the perfume ad is bordering on pornographic so there’s always been potential for her to be a tad adventurous.

  24. The Fourth Official says:

Sorry, girls, got to disagree.  Hate to get all feminist and stuff but since when was a strip club a healthy, safe environment for a woman to work?  Many dancers suffer from alcoholism, drug addiction, and abusive relationships.  The guys who own these places aren’t exactly the Salvation Army.  I don’t believe it is empowering for the dancers, and I certainly don’t think it is empowering for a woman who thinks it’s okay to go with her boyfriend.  If her man thinks it’s fun to pay a woman to give him a lap dance while his girlfriend watches, then that relationship has a serious flaw.

You are right, a strip club is not quite the safest place for the dancers, they do have a troubled life, they do have drug problems and they are also abused sometimes. I think these girls need more legal and real protection.
