Quote of the Day: Alex Ferguson on David Beckham
“He was never a problem until he got married. He used to go into work with the academy coaches at night time, he was a fantastic young lad.
Getting married into that entertainment scene was a difficult thing – from that moment his life was never going to be the same.
He is such a big celebrity, football is only a small part. The big part is his persona…
It is difficult with David going there [America] – I don’t know what kind of impact he can make. David Beckham himself can’t change the whole country.“

I was a Beckham fan until he decided to move to MLS, I doubt his attitude his love to football.
To be the ambassador of American football? I’d rather believe that is a specious reason for him to cheat himself, a reason used by Posh to convince her darling or whatever.
I think SAF is like the spadger telling the crowd that the King is naked.
I think Sir Alex is spot on with that, actually. And Becks has a lot to thank him for. AF has always protected his young players from the media to give their talent a chance to shine, I don’t think Becks would have done as well as he has if he hadn’t had that protection at the start of his career.
I don’t like Sir Alex Ferguson.
Therefore, he is wrong, and everything that comes out of his mouth is fallacious.
Yay! Vintage Becks!!
His jealousy of Posh knows no bounds. It’s usually the mother that never recovers from her darling boy being torn from her bosom by his wife, not the father—oops—I mean manager! <img src="http://www.kickette.com/images/smileys/wink.gif" width="19" height="19" alt="wink" style="border:0;" />
(Sad thing, he was probably straining a brain muscle trying to say something in David’s defense, but it he will just CAN’T keep this in.)
All LA Galaxy home and away games are sold out for the rest of the season, even the shite seats. It’s impossible to get tickets for love or money, while before July most MLS stadiums were a quarter full on a good day.
But I guess that doesn’t appear much of an impact to somebody who has 70K screaming fans in the seats twice a week and the entire country of Japan watching on their cell phones.
he’s rigt the old twat
Becks needs a strong manager to keep his ass from doing dumb things (a la Germany/6000 flight/Chivas in 33 hours). He has already changed the landscape or at least moved it forward
Sorry for lack of editing, meant to say “he just can’t keep this in” at the end.
Agree, great photo.
