Reggina Calcio: Even Better Than The Real Thing?

Image via regginacalcio.com.

It might be scant consolation for the sight of a truly naked footballer, but Reggina Calcio’s recent special edition derby shirt is a definite move in the right direction.

The Serie B club were hoping that the shirt, which features a rather fetching set of abs, would help them draw on their Ancient Greek heritage to tonk Crotone in the Reggio di Calabria derby. Sadly, the fittest Greek deities were resting that day, and the game finished 1-1 with Reggina having two players sent off.

Still, as any good scholar knows, the path to true enlightenment is paved with unfair refereeing decisions. We can only assume the officials thought they had stripped.

Maybe this wasn’t such a genius idea after all.
