Ryan Giggs: Looks Like a Winner
Sure, there are a few grumbles around about Ryan Gigs taking the PFA Player of the Year Award. He had a short season. Many talented players like Frank Lampard and Xabi Alonso were left off the ballot completely. Ryan didn’t take his shirt off enough, etc.
But, even still: who can begrudge Giggsy? He’s 900 years old, a living legend and a true inspiration. Look how good he looks in a tux, all sweaty and prize-worthy. Congratulations are in order.
Since the players make the decision on who gets the prize, we see no point in debate. But for those that do, fill us in on who you think should have gotten the nod from their peers this year.
FYI, Ashley Young took the PFA “He with the most active collagen” Youth award.
I watched the awards earlier on Sky and had a little cry at the choir and Grandad singing along with tears in his eyes. I thought he might have got an award for services to football or something similar as well and I just can’t believe he’s never had it before!
Giggsy Congratulations. Should have won it before now, and fully deserving of it this year. Well done also to Ashley Young for his award to, fully deserved.

He should have won it years ago, but no one can say he isn't truly deserving for this year alone. Congratulations Giggsy!

It's about time! Ryan has deserved to win this prize several times over in his career. It's surprising that he's missed out before now. I'm just tickled pink that he won. So very very proud. Gerrard did nothing exceptional till late Mac..remember Pool’s 7 draws in 10 league games?If anyone deserves the award more it’s Nemanja Vidic.Giggs received votes from his fellow professionals who play with him week in week out and might i remind you girls NO MAN UTD players were allowed to vote for their fellow teammate.So,Giggs deserved the award.Quit the hate!
Gerrard has played the best season of his life…he undoubtably deserved to walk away with the trophy!
Well, he has definitely had an exceptional career, and merits an award for that, but this was the player of the YEAR award, not Player of the Decade!! There were many other players who have definitely had better seasons than Giggs. Of the players nominated, Gerrard should unquestionably have won it.

Thrilled to bits that Giggsy won it. If not him, then Vida would be my next choice. Still, I was really surprised to see Alsonso and Lmapard left off the ballot.
Extremely proud — the most decorated player in English football has finally won "the big one". Ashley Young was also very deserving of his award. He is testament to the hard work and endeavour at Villa.

We at the MUS thread are all thrilled to our very cores that Ryan was named the PFA Player of the Year. I think I have single-handedly flooded our thread (literally *flooded*) with tears of pride and joy over the past almost-24 hours. The video of the presentation is heartwarming. If you venture in to see it, definitely bring Kleenex, but don't forget your water wings or a lifejacket, too.
For those who haven't seen the footage, Ryan's granddad (who *still* handles all of Ryan's fanmail) came all the way from Cardiff for the gala, and he was singing his heart out in Welsh along with the choir. We are collectively a soppy mess because of it over in our thread. I'm so proud of Ryan. I did think that Vida was the best man for the award this year (despite my extreme bias), but I'm sure that he and all of the other nominees will be nominated again in the years to come. I also think that Xabi Alonso and Frank Lampard can expect more nominations in the future, too. In defence of Ryan's nomination and win, it's not necessarily based on the amount of time a player plays in a season, it's about the quality of the contribution and the impact his presence makes on the game. Evidently, Ryan's fellow players thought his quality of play was outstanding enough to merit the award! 
Many congrats as well to cutiepants Ashley Young on receiving the Young Player of the Year award. What a remarkable year both Ashley and Ryan have had!!! Well done, lads. 
I think this year became more of a "lifetime achievement award". And for that, he is fully deserving. Congratulations, Ryan Giggs!

Smile Giggsy love – you won!! lol I think he definitely deserves this award (not that we really deserve to have an opinion on it) because he’s such an honest, loyal, decent old-school type of footballer – how can you not love him?
