Shakira: Bang Up Job In Rio

Bangs. Some wear them well, while we haven’t worn them since since the early 90′s. Shakira’s, on the other hand, managed to perform quite an impressive disappearing act in Rio de janeiro, Brazil over the weekend.

The Colombian singer – along with Brazilian TV hostess Xuxa – paid a special visit to a social program for poor children last Friday afternoon, in an effort to promote universal primary education. During this visit, she let her (visibly distressed) forehead decorations hang in all their glory.

Good for them.

Later in the evening, Gerard Pique’s girlfriend took to the Rock in Rio music festival’s main stage as the headlining act. Needless to say, she and her abs made their presences known; her bangs, however, were sensibly framed away from her face.

Our bottom line: while we don’t cringe when she’s sporting them, we personally prefer to see Shakira’s pretty profile free from the fringe.

Do you feel the same or differently Kickettes? This is an important matter, mind you, that we can’t move past without superficially surveying our nearest and dearest first.

I have a question regarding shakiras outfit in the first pic: Why is it that she’s wearing the same outfit she wore during her concert in barcelona back in may?!

  2. ArsenalFiesta says:

I totally agree! Shakira looks alot better without bangs but i don’t mind. Anyways if obtaining abs like shakira would get u a footballer i would definetly do those damn crunches!!!!!!

  3. earidurt says:

i agree with you kickette……shakira looks best without the bangs. they are limp and do nothing for her.

oh we were having such a good time without a Shakira post! but she had to be back again! :S
what she did in a favela was pure demagogy! just to call the attention because everyone was talking Katy Perry, who is a really important star!

    • Kicki says:

Katy Perry?! Important? How? She's just another mainstream artist to me. I'm no fan of either, but I don't see where Katy Perry comes into the picture.

      • Agnes Wonka says:

Katy Perry is in Rock In Rio too.
Maybe you don't like her, but she is important! she has a Billboard record of hits! + she is very talented and charismatic.

If you don't like reading about Shakira, feel free to skip posts related to her! There are others who like her and like to read about her.

Dont care about the hair I just want those abs.

Question- If I obtain abs like hers (by any means necessary) do I also get a footballer along with said abs?

    • Tashinka says:

Good question! If a Pique clone came with abs, I actually might be tempted to do crunches!

    • love says:

      i don't think so :(
but if you are a no name model with silicon in your breasts and in your brain plus those abs ……. hmmmmm maybe :)

or if you are a wannabe actress or a singer you probably have good chances ;)

  6. bertaboo says:

i wish i had luscious hair like hers. or her styling team. either one would be nice.

  7. USABarcaBabe says:

Bangs were the rage in the US last year and still more so than in Europe. Shakira is so pretty with or without. I love all her charity work. If I can't have Pique she might as well. sigh

  8. Kristina says:

She's got a very pretty face, she don't need to hide it behind a lot of hair.

  9. Fatima says:

hmmm, i love shakira but them bangs?? maybe if they were straightened or something but i do think shes beautiful…the only time i hate her is when shes snogging off piques face…that my job :P

  10. rachael says:

I quite like Shakira but her hair really is in need of some TLC those bangs look so yellow and straw like!

  11. Sarah, Madrid says:

you said it, early 90's, and that period was one of these era, where hair styles should stay in that period and never leave!!

  12. mata says:

Frankly, the less I see of her the better.
