St. Patrick’s Day: Who’s Your Fav?

Happy belated nearly St. Paddy’s day everyone!

We’re still a little green around the gills after celebrating this weekend and are updating from a detox centre off the coast of Maui.

Oh, we can’t lie to you, dear readers, we’re still under the duvet waiting for our man servants to remove our silk eye covers and put the kettle on. They don’t seem to have arrived yet. In any case, let’s get back to the festive topic at hand: Irish footballers.

We know Roy Keane has a few fans on Kickette, as does Shay Given, John O’Shea, Robbie Keane and that cute little boy-bander, Andy Keogh.

Who’s your favourite Irishman? And did you get green this weekend in celebration?

UPDATE: So, seriously. We may need medical assistance after having no clue what actual day it is. Please, send truffles. We may not make it otherwise.

  2. The Fourth Official says:

Bless you, Kickette. Roy, of course. Always and forever. :) And I *may* have enough photos of Keano chewing gum to mount a fairly large pic spam honouring the various ways he can use his tongue.

  3. Mel (Mrs. Pique, the one and only) says:

I’m glad to read in the comments that I’m not the only person in the world that finds Steve Finnan attractive. I never got why nobody seems to like him depressed I’m thinking… I’m going to be here tomorrow, sad and depressed, and missing the good auld Dublin days and poor Steve will be in Spain aswell, so lonely on such a special date. I think he should visit me. It could definitely be a good craic.

  4. Moonie says:

John O Shea is definitely right up there but after finally getting to see him in the flesh at the COMS on Thursday I have to agree with Erin, Shay is definitely an Irish God ;)

There are so many delish ones to choose from, but I'm going to celebrate the man of the moment and the hero of yesterday's Celtic win in the Old Firm (in the form of a cup final)… Darren O'Dea. Mmmm, Darren you feisty Irishman… <img src="http://i40.tinypic.com/2dc8sbr.jpg" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic"> I grew up celebrating St. Joseph's Day (March 19th), more of an Italian affair. Kickette, might I suggest a St. Joseph's Day post where we name our favorite Italiani? :) And post lots of pics where they are half-naked or beyond.

  6. Venice says:

Hmmm given the choice, I think I'll go with Marc Wilson of Pompey.

  7. Emily (Giggsy's Gal) says:

I know who, too, FTC!! :D Yahoooooo!!! Sexy Roy (TM) wearing a nice coat, chewing gum and hanging out with his son. Yep, by far the best part of my week so far! Roy is my favourite Irishman, with Sheasy aka The Waterford Stud (TM) firmly in the #2 spot. Rounding out the top 3 is Robbie Keane, who I can like again now that he’s back with Spurs. Young Aiden is adorable!! Spitting image of his dad! He’s going to have the girls lined up at his front door in a few years. I hope my having said that doesn’t make me sound gross…

  8. FirstTeamCoach says:

Keano junior is just soooooooo cute. Can I take hime (and his daddy) home. Roy or Sheasy, tough call. At one point it would have been Roy all the way, but I love Sheasy too. Can I have both. I also have a fondness for another of the Irish boys, but he shall remain nameless. Those who know – know!!!

  9. Miss I.T says:

all of them, don’t wanna limit myself LoL;)

  10. FootballerChick43 - says:

I'm not a big fan of any Irish footballers… so I'm just going to say Damien Duff.

John O'Shea with a side order of Roy Keane! lose that girl blog

  12. LoveLamps says:

I am wearing Robbie Keane tomorrow for Saint Patrick's Day. Yes Claudine. I'm sorry. He's tearing me up at the moment. I am crushing super hard on that hot Irish captain!

  13. Angela says:

That looks more like Celtic Park than Hampden… but good picture my bhoy is looking good.

  14. Jo says:

I ran myself into the ground with cooking, cleaning, and baking for a family celebration. I was too busy to get myself plastered. :D

My favourite is Roy Keane, with Sheasy coming in second. Robbie is a player that I’ve always liked and wished good things for. I loved his appearances on S1 TV. :D I’d never paid attention to Shay Given until I saw a photo of him in a suit, carrying his golden-haired cherub of a son. Got my attention with that pic!

  15. Toni Waters says:

Very elegant indeed. Just as Ronaldo learned to dive from a master, Luis Figo, so Roy Keane leanred to make gum appear even more disgusting than it already is, from a master. Our Roy has the sense not to challenge Sir Alex by chewing as large a wad as the master, but where does he threw it after the final whistle? Just anywhere, on the ground? That would be the sign of an excellent student

  16. The Fourth Official says:

I know, FTC! *giggle* I must put in a word for adorable Andy Reid, who sings, plays guitar, has a sweet left foot, but can't get a look in the Ireland team under Trap. Poor Andy. Have a Big Mac, it will make you feel better, love.

  17. Dreamgirl says:

Roy of course. I watched parts of that match and never spotted him.How cute is his son. Awww

  18. Becca says:

    Hm, Damien Duff Maybe?

  19. DC says:

    STEVE FINNAN! *points to icon*

  20. carly says:

Aw, my favourite Irish-man-boy is Keano's son. He's so adorable :D

  21. carly says:

Oh bummer, I forgot Marc Wilson was Irish, Venice. :/ Well, him too but without his taste in women.

  22. TammyV says:

Two months ago, it would have been Shay/Duffer fight but since he proved to be well, sky blue. He has been kicked to the crub…Damien Duff holds the solo title

  23. Sarah says:

Ven, that's the cute defender with the black hair right? I'll agree with that.

  24. Elise says:

Oh Kickette, I'm sure you made TFO's day! Roy is lovely. So…Roy, Robbie Keane and Damien Duff.

  25. Erin says:

My gosh, DC, how could I forget Finnan?!?!?! I'm going to go punish myself. I'm so sorry, Steve!

  26. Erin says:

I'll always like Robbie Keane, but that Shay Given is a lovely hunk of man meat. I didn't celebrate St. Patricks Day this weekend, in spite of my Irish heritage. But all of us Manhattanites will have the pleasure of the big parade inconvenience tomorrow. Woohoo.

  27. Dani.Mrs José Manuel Reina (PLQ) says:

Robbie Keane had to be my favourite irish man !

  28. carly says:

Aw, my favourite Irish-man-boy is Keano’s son. He’s so adorable :D

  31. Boston Red says:

Paddy’s is tomorrow, Kickette so it’s not actually belated yet! And YAAAAAAAAY! What a glorious pic of Roy and Aiden! Of course, John O’Shea is my #1. Always has been, always will be. He’s the Roy to my Fourth. But I cannot deny my love for Shay Given, God of Sex or Robbo. I love them all. And I’d like to mention that the Republic of Ireland shares the top spot in their World Cup qualification group and have had great success since Signore Trapattoni has taken over! Eirinn go brach!
