Steven Gerrard: Clever Clogs

It’s about time that Steven Gerrard stepped up to the layered-look fashion gauntlet his designer-loving wifey, Alex, has thrown down. (Remember her inspiring ode to excess fabric a la 2007?)
We like his choice of layering and satin-blend fibres. Very uni-chic, SG. Not too sure about the headwear for a night out in Liverpool, though. It’s possible you may be bullied or have your beer money taken.
Random: Stevie G falls into the sweet/sexy category for us. Formerly, he was of the meh/maybe variety, but we’ve grown to appreciate. You?
well he only had to get into the premier league and devote his life to football and lead liverpool to EUro glory to lift the cup and then had to make the FA cup final his own and trun it all around so im sure it was reeeal easy to get wot he got!

Alex looks fab!Why does he get honorary degree?I understand if actors&film directors get it(people who won Oscars)because they contribute to general culture.But athletes?Hm don’t know-just think it’s to much.But looks kind of cute in this picture(despite that not a top five material definitely).Tammy V-why do you dislike him so much. Aww why couldn’t he have been at the University of Liverpool degree ceremonies! Elvis Costello got one of us on my grad day the other week. I do think honourary awards are a bit odd but he is a credit to merseyside sport and a great role model so i dont see why he shouldn’t get one
Get in our Stevie!!! He looks so proud and so god damn beautiful….awwwww….just wish the ceremony had been last year when I was graduating from that very same uni! As for the peeps bitchin about the honorary degrees, give it a rest….for those of you who don’t or never have lived in Liverpool, you have no idea about how important football and the boys who play it are to us scousers. Right or wrong, football is like a religion to us, and Stevie has done so much for the beautiful game and so much for the thousands of kids who aspire to be like him. WELL DONE OUR KID!

Stevie G is neither hate nor love for me. Kinda meh. But, he keeps his nose clean, doesn’t harass opponents or refs and seems like a decent guy so I have nothing bad to say. His wife is another matter, entirely.
I have to admit, she’s stepped it up recently by toning it down, which is a good thing, a very good thing. He clearly adores her, if that look is anything to go by, which is very sweet.

Steven: when he plays for England, I think he’s absolutely top drawer in terms of looks(unfortunately his England form is not always so top drawer). In Liverpool shirt? No thanks.

. He’s been recognised by a University and not many footballers can be. I watched the presentation and his speech. He was adorable saying he has never spoken to a big crowd and he did seem nervous about the whole thing. He thanked his teammates saying that if it wasn’t for them he wouldn’t be receiving the highest honour of Fellowship and he congratualted all the graduates. Alex’s dress is pretty which is a welcome difference.
It is a little weird to give out honorary degrees, but these are usually to get someone to speak and/or honor someone special to the university. In this case, he’s a hometown hero, so it does make a little sense. When I graduated a couple of famous people were given honorary degrees including Dan Rather (a former evening newscaster on a major channel here in the US) and Helen Thomas (oldest white house correspondent) but also a local man who had done well for himself. I think this fits in both categories actually. And Stevie G… meh? Are you kidding? He makes me drool. I absolutely adore him. And Alex (despite the copycat dress) looks lovely here and very appropriate. Thanks for posting this, Kickette! Congrats to Stevie!

Johnna, I sympathize with the loan situation. I’ve been there. Paid that.
Honourary degrees in this situation are given for the purpose of publicity for the university, and to hit up the alumni for more donations. So, yes, let’s be bitter because it is actually all about the bottom line for the university.
Occasionally, someone very deserving is given an honourary degree. An example escapes me at the moment.

Fourth, I know Martin Sheen has gotten a few honorary degrees, and when he was offered one from the National University of Ireland he asked if he could actually go to classes and earn a degree because he never got to go to college. I think he’s pretty deserving.
Argh, I’m so sick of this honorary degree BS. These people get paid millions upon millions to play a freaking sport and then we go about giving them honorable degrees when they barely even graduated from school and more than likely probably slipped by on sport rather than actually having good grades.
Yes, I’m bitter about paying hundreds of thousands of dollars back for school loans for the damn degrees I worked for.
Alex, however, looks lovely. Besides the fact that she’s got millions upon millions of dollars just for opening her legs at the right time. *grumbles*
