With the scent of Diptyque’s Feu de Bois in the air, Victoria Beckham showed her Spring 2013 collection at the New York Public Library yesterday morning.
It was by many accounts, her most advanced and sophisticated collection to date. So much so that our snarkometers officially clocked in at zero when all was said and done.
Having stuck exclusively with dresses prior to this showing, Victoria gave trousers and separates their first ever catwalk run out. The colour pallette was black, white, and bright orange (save for one beige structured slip dress), and details like cut outs, broderie anglaise and lacy lingerie-like intricacies were a plenty.
Naturally, Victoria’s signature form-fitting dresses were scattered throughout, but most exciting were the tailored pieces David’s missus said she spent years perfecting. If we were able to wear white trousers without spilling precious Pinot Noir all over them, we’d be the first to queue at Harrod’s for these.
The models’ shoes, meanwhile, were Monolo Blahnik open toed lace up boots and buckled flats creations. Usually we’d wager our rainy day shoe shopping funds on VB not being caught dead in such things, but she wore sweatpants last week, so all bets are off.
Victoria’s final two dresses were stylist staples that we know we’ll be seeing on celebrities not named Katherine Jenkins and WAGs alike.
If you’re still not tickled by Victoria Beckham the fashion designer, have a look at the rest of VB’s collection here. Or just take a look at these two.
