Style Off: Fashion Kicks 2012

Shay and Jane Given held their annual charity extravaganza at the The Point at Lancashire County Cricket Club last night. As in previous years, the event featured a fashion show by Selfridges, a performance by Westlife, a silent auction with fab prizes and a top meal.

Next year we’ll take our champagne budget for the month of April and go all in for a table. We usually blow our monthly allowances before the 15th of each month so someone please try to hold us to this.

Aside from sordid tales of drunkenness, our favourite thing at these events is of course the WAG fashion. We’re quite happy to report that the ladies brought their A+ game tonight. The woman of the hour, Jane Given, looked great in an off-the-shoulder Roland Mouret dress.

It’s a bit like what Little Red Riding Hood would wear if she grew up, went blond, and married a footballer. Fair play, J.

Our latest style crush, Winonah de Jong was there with her husband and sartorial equal, Nigel. We were smitten with her lesson in accessorising last week, and were very excited to see what she had in store last night.

Natch, she didn’t disappoint.

Wearing a gorgeous Matthew Williamson beaded and feathered creation, the dress wasn’t just stunning, it was beyond it.

But – and we say that we a big “B” – we can’t help but feel like it kind of swallowed her whole. It was too much dress for such a tiny lady.

We’re happy to bring you some new faces to these parts so feast your eyes on Aston Villa’s Carlos Cuellar and his lovely lady, Eva Maria Prieto.

Ms. Prieto makes her Kickette debut in grand fashion with her Versace sea-print scuba-jersey dress from the Spring 2012 collection. It was such a fun departure from the typical LBD and we love that she went with the matching lavender bag as well.

Last, but never least: Abbey Clancy. Her hubby was busy earning his keep last night so Abbey brought along her mum and her daughter’s Fall 2012 Philip Armstrong dress was a complete stunner by no coincidence. Abbey channeled Morticia Addams hardcore Tuesday night, yet we loved it.

Rightly so, she kept her make-up light so as not to veer too far into goth territory.

Also spotted were Chantelle Tagoe, (Emile Heskey’s other half) and Adam Johnson’s girlfriend Stacey Flounders in the same Forever Unique dress. Chins up, girls. It happens to the best of us.

We honestly thought everyone looked great so we’ll leave the crowning of best dressed to you.

Fingers crossed, Kickettes.

I like the Roland Mouret dress :)

  2. Katie says:

I think good fashion should look effortless. Abbey always looks like she took just a few minutes too long to figure out what to where, if that makes any sense. Winonah's dress is a little much for me but she rocks it. Carla Kompany looked gorgeous too.

"the same Forever Unique dress" …….ah well that's ironic……

Carlos Cuellar needs a shave as a matter of urgency. At least the neck, Carlos! His missus is beautiful though!

Winonah wins hands down, her dress is gorgeous and suits her perfectly, but I hate Abbey's dress, it's absolutely awful IMO and isn't even figure flattering.
