Style Off: WAGs At The British Fashion Awards

The British Fashion Awards were announced last night at the Savoy in London and with baby Harper (likely wearing solid gold pajamas) asleep upstairs and her parents in tow, Victoria Beckham accepted the award for Designer Brand of the Year. Victoria triumphed over Tom Ford, Stella McCartney, and Burberry to take home that strange rectangular trophy. The brands she beat out should give you some indication of how big a deal this is for Victoria.

No one promotes Victoria’s brand better than the woman herself so obviously she chose to wear one of her own designs. We would have died to see VB in the mustard yellow version of this dress she sent down the runway in her Fall 2011 presentation. With a red lip and minimal eye make-up? Yes please.

The lovely knife pleats on the skirt are lost in the black dress and seeing as how she wore black last year, we are a touch disappointed even if she does look gorgeous.

We are on the fence to end all fences with this dress.

Designed by Abbey’s fashion BFF and wedding dress designer Giles Deacon, this suede, studded concoction has us in a conundrum. Is it fabulous? Is it awful? Can she walk in it? Can we pet it (you know how suede feels)? Is this her best make-up look in a while?

The answer to the last question is yes because a light smokey eye and a nude lip does wonders for her and is perfect for this look. The rest? We’ve no idea.

Do you like Abbey’s dress? Does she look better than Victoria? Do you think Victoria could have pulled off the yellow dress? We needs answers.

  3. Victoria does look great in that photo, good to see she has put some weight on!

  4. [...] THAT TROPHY MAKES ME WONDER IF POSH IS THE FIFTH ELEMENT. GOD I HOPE NOT. First rule of receiving a fashion award, apparently: no smiling. Or smiling, but in that pursed “I’m Victoria Beckham and I’m made out of steel” way. Icy. // Kickette [...]

i don't remember the last time i saw Victoria Beckham dressed badly.

  6. Jen says:

Abbey looks totally fake here. When she is natural she looks much better. Vic's dress is good, and no I think her in yellow wouldn't look as glam.

  7. FloraJane says:

Victoria looks fantastic! A fabulous black dress is always right, and the hair and makeup are perfect. I think she could definitely wear the yellow dress, but I think for the occasion the black was best. Well done!

Good on VB for the win! She's really done brilliantly well with her collections and has proved the sceptics wrong. Queen Wag fo' life (if this doesn't prove it i don't know what will)!

The Spice Girls Movie was on tv the other day… I think victoria looked so much better then. Now her face is so sunk in she looks like skeletor. I do like her dress though. Maybe if her hair was down she wouldn't look so harsh.

That does not look like Abbey! Congrats to VB

WTF. Abby's dress looks like the top of a teepee fused together with the studs from a belt. I dislike. Her makeup is lovely, but as Lydia said, a little less blush would be nice. I think her eyes would pop more.

Victoria looks great as is. In fact, I think the only thing needed to make her outfit pop more is a slightly bling-y bracelet. While the mustard color is beautiful, I'm not so sure that color would work on her. Mustard is a bit tricky like that.

  12. Maddie says:

That is an awfully bright color of yellow. I think if she had worn it we'd all be talking about how horrible the color is on her. Black may be a bit plain, but it's never wrong.

  13. Kristina says:

I really love her fall collection. That yellow color is beautiful!

  14. Ali says:

I think Victoria looks classy in her dress. Yes, color would have been nice, but she definitely rocks the one she is wearing. Abbey on the other hand looks almost frumpy. The suede is not doing her any favor, plus the color just blends in with her skin! But you're right with her makeup – it looks really good!

Vicks has such lovely colours to choose from her growing collection of designs, oh why oh why did she have to wear black, and besides that she's a person who rarely smiles, she could have atleast worn a brghter colour to lighten up..

Is the suede dress the new velour tracksuit (yuck)? Btw V looks good…

  17. lydia says:

I think Abbey should lay off the blush, or lots of makeup in general… Though she's pretty, with all that blush she sometimes looks like a drag queen…

In my opinion Abbey's dress I like the best, The one VB is wearing is kinda boring and I dont find anything with the Wow factor in it. The suede dress has an edge, because it looks diferent is kind of unexpected for her (after the black dress/underwear garment she wore). To that add the make up she has and the hair, and she looks pretty good. :)

Maybe if VB wore the yellow dress, she could have won my vote. She can pulled it off, but with the black one I gotta give to Abbey.

  19. bri_saldana says:

Wow Vic looks actually healthy and stunning for that matter……best WAG here.

  20. Caitlin says:

Call me boring, but I really like Victoria's dress. It's understated and classy. Having said that, with her dark hair I'm sure she could have pulled off the yellow one too.

I wish I could put my finger on what Abbey's done to herself–she looks so OLD lately. It makes me sad.
