Style Off: WAGs At The MOBO Awards
In a clash of fabrics rarely seen outside a Real Madrid team dinner, last night saw several of our favourite WAGs and players strolling the red carpet at the MOBO awards in Liverpool, rubbing shoulders with the great and the good of the UK music scene, as well as the inevitable range of Z-listers.
Leading from the front was Alex Gerrard, a woman who has never met a red carpet she didn’t like.
Wearing a leopard-print Lanvin mini dress with Christian Louboutin heels and an Alexander McQueen clutch, Alex looked er… nice, but we can’t help but think that the entire look is right down to the same shade of lipstick familiar, an offence for which she has a dubious record.
If she is to continue her vociferous pursuit of the ‘fashion icon’ label, it might be wise to remember that true fashion icons are capable of styling themselves. Not copying what others do. Just sayin’.
Let’s see how the rest of the ladies and fellas (oh yes, the fellas were there!) measure up.
Just as a short side note, we think it’s high time the ladies of Liverpool branched out from their local branch of Cricket. There’s a whole world of fashion out there that our inner bishes would welcome the exploration of.
Meanwhile, Chantelle Tagoe shook things up a little by wearing a metallic asymmetric dress with a pair of Camilla Skovgaard boots a black clutch and mega jewellery.
We are awarding this WAG style off to Chantelle for wearing something slightly out of the box. Just don’t look directly at her insane false eyelashes and you’ll be ok.
Some of the others in attendance included Everton’s Phil Jagielka and his wife Emily, Tim Cahill and wifey Rebekah, and a solo Tim Howard.
The Tims even took to the stage accompanied by big cheers from the pro-Everton crowd. We’re sad to report that their performance did not include any naked Jell-o wrestling but don’t panic. Our campaign to get a member of the Kickette Army involved in the planning for next year has begun in earnest.
