Style Picks: The Six Most Fashionable Footballers
Footballers are not usually known for sartorial elegance and stirring clothing choices (see our stunted style contenders for some true fash disasters ), but every now and then we come across a baller who truly kicks it in the style stakes. A man who knows his colour combos, and who knows when to reject stonewash denim and quilted jackets. (Hint: Always).
So, for both your judgment and delectation, here are our picks for the six best dressed men in football:
1. David Beckham
Whether he’s doing dressed down casual, experimenting with headgear, or rocking a suit, we think it doesn’t really get much better than Becks. The man can wear the hell out of pretty much anything, but we think he looks his best relaxed and casual. We must salute David, though, for consistently strutting the sexy everyday – albeit designer – duds. He’s got a lush, lean frame that makes even a tee shirt and jeans look as golden as his balls.
P.S. We forgive him the oh-so-wrong silk sarong.
2. Rio Ferdinand
Rio’s tall and totatlly abtastic body is made for clothes, so he has somewhat of an unfair advantage over his competitors in the style stakes. Still, nobody wears a jacket quite like Mr. F. His be-suited self makes us all swoony, and his daywear ain’t bad either.
If only he could curb those awkward facial expressions he makes while in transit, he’d be top of the list.
3. Paolo Maldini
4. Thierry Henry
The King of Casual. What looks great on Thierry would look hideous on anyone else, and that’s part of his charm. We love his skater boy style, but he can also dress it up when it counts. J’adore.
Not one to stop caring with just his clothes, Henry’s detail to suave or trendy accessories is dually noted. His red kicks to match his shirt, sleek silver headphones, even right down to his underwear – all shows that this man is a natural street-style gentleman.
5. Xabi Alonso
And how can you not love a guy who’s into Mad Men, and never travels without his Macbook? His style is all class, just like him.
6. Yoann Gourcuff
Although we would prefer to see sans clothes, his mix of the classic with a little aviator bling, still makes us sigh with longing like the Lashes fangirls that we are.
And anyone who can make this black and white shirt look good = immediate win.
Weigh in where you see fit, Kickettes! Who do you think should be top of the style stakes?
