Style Files: Victoria Beckham’s Handbag

image

Large bags are the fash-thing right now for WAGs- just take one look at Alex Curran or Elen Rives who have made it their mission to lug bags the size of Texas around whilst being wagtastic and other such duties.

Never one to be outdone, Victoria Beckham is working her woven Miu Miu Harlequin bag on a shopping trip with her mom in LA yesterday.

Do you like? Do you do large-and-in-charge bags?

Posh paired her purse with a Marc Jacobs resort-wear dress and some terribly below-par shoes. Later, she hit a Lakers game with David and perfected her pose-posture while her hubby rallied against razors.

  1. Victoria Beckham is the center of attention with the Miu Miu bag. While I shall look nothing even I carry such a bag.

  2. miu miu bow says:

wow, she is so sexy, and i also like her miu miu 2008 color bag, and i think it’s still great for this spring summer.

  3. baGGirl says:

Victoria’s handbag matches her dress. I am really envious of the shape of her legs. They seem to be perfect. Also I am really envious of Beckham. He married such a perfect woman!

  4. chictote says:

Wow, Victoria and her woven Miu Miu Harlequin bag. And the dress, the glass, really cool. Miu Miu bag, I do prefer New Collection 08 Coffee Leather, terrific color and design.BTW, I do like large bags.

  5. mini game says:

Fastpacking is about taking as little gear as possible so you can travel greater distances in the wilderness unhampered. And what gear you do take with you should be necessary camping gear.

    free mobile games

  6. Laptopus says:

Victoria Beckham is nice doll, i think she sell nice handbags smile

  7. brandy says:

I like her dress, the bag is fine and I like her shoes. They’re not crazy fabu but they are fine… she looks nice and put together. I’m with you Emily, she looks classy whereas all those other WAGs seem so chavtastic and wannabe classy. They make me cringe!

And Kaya, my man holds my hand at boxing matches… maybe Becks is just a romantic like my man is wink

  8. nicky xxx says:

I dont like the outfit but I Lurrrve big bags..x

  9. Jamie says:

I love this dress. The length is great and the pockets are fantastic. Given that the dress has pockets, carrying that bag seems more ott.

  10. Rusty, aka Mrs. Owen Hargreaves says:

I don’t dislike big bags, per se. I carried a big bag around this evening. I dislike big purses, and big bags brought to sporting events. My big bag was not a purse, and I have no tickets to any games any time soon.

  11. Kitty says:

Never been a fan of those bags. It’s a diaper bag and they look ridiculous with it. TO be honest very few can carry it off.

  12. Is it bad that I looked at Victoria’s mum thinking that the headline was a reference to her? lol.

I can barely find anything in my normal sized handbag let alone a large one. My b/f is amazed at how much crap I hoarde in there! Admittedly, I do own a Balenciaga handbag that is big, but not huge enough for my border collie to fit in like the ones the WAGS insist on sporting everywhere they go! Not a fan.

I just find the paparazzi-whoring Victoria continually does, so utterly boring. Carting her kids around like they’re Krufts showdogs, turning up to the obviously orchestrated pap photo-ops *yawn*

  13. Kathy says:

I just don’t get the whole ginormous bag craze.

That’s a cute dress, minus the pockets.

  14. kaya says:

Umm… I kind of like the shoes. At least from the front. She’s always wearing the same damn heels with the small platform… different colors maybe, but they all look the same. They are nice, but get old after a while. Maybe these are a bit too strappy for my taste from the side, but I like em from the front. Dress is ok.
I am so not a bag person, but if that one were proportioned smaller, I actually would quite like it. That’s saying a lot for me. Usually any bag I notice is one I don’t like.
I find the Beckhams with the public hand holding so tiresome and fake. No man watches a sports match holding his wife’s hand… give me a break.
I used to be a huge Lakers’ fan in the 80s and 90s, and I would’ve broken the wrist of anybody who tried to hold my hand while watching a Lakers’ game smile

  15. LoveLamps says:

I love her. She’s perfect. Love huge bags as I have a few myself and love everything about her. Notice that she appears to be wearing the same shoes at the Lakers game – is it POSSIBLE she would wear the same shoes TWICE in one day?!?!?

  16. Pink Panther says:

If the bag wasn’t so big the design would be a lot more appealing. As it is it’s just too much.

I don’t like the dress. The pocket situation is all fugly.

  17. Amelie says:

blimey she’s more orange than Alex Curran and all her mates put together!

  18. cheryl_xxx says:

oh i really like the bag…
i’m all for big bags-coz i’ve got loads of stuff i have to carry around-so tiny bags aren’t even an option!!!!

  19. Emily says:

Okay, call me crazy, but I think Victoria looks fab in the shopping photo. No nipples piercing through the dress, the skirt of the dress is not an obscene length, and I don’t see what’s wrong with the shoes. Honestly. No, they’re nothing special, but I think that’s fine. Girlie needs to take a break from the gladiator-stripper shoes that all the starlets and WAGs seem to favour nowadays (which I think look ridiculous attached to their stick-insect legs, by the way).

I also quite like the bag. I am of the same opinion as various other posters—that for the amount of crap that she’s most likely carrying, the bag is too big—but I’m a big-bag girl myself. I always carry big totes or slouchy bags ‘cause I put a lot of crap in my bags: wallet, small brush, notebook, small diary/agenda, tissues, compact, lipgloss, gum, keys, sticky lint-remover papers (I have a dog that sheds like mad, so these are necessary), mobile, pen, umbrella, bottle of water and the book that I’m currently reading. Plus, when I shop, if the items are small enough and not too delicate, I toss them into my tote so that I don’t need a plastic bag (doing my part to reduce waste!). Some of us really do need a large bag.

As for Posh’s typical style, I can’t say that I would wear a lot of what she wears nor do I like a lot of what she wears, but she almost always looks well-put-together and (dare I say it?) relatively classy. The other WAGs make me feel nauseous: ACG, Elen, Coleen, Abby, Toni, etc. They simply look foolish and ridiculous. They’re no more than chavettes who have glommed on to talented athletes, and these men are simply thinking with their balls rather than their brains. It’s kinda sad that with all of their money, these blokes can’t find girlfriends with an ounce of class between the lot of them. I’m especially surprised at/ashamed by Stevie G, who otherwise would seem like a down-to-earth kind of guy. (shakes head and sighs…)

  20. FabLove says:

I love the dress, it’s really cute. But I really don’t know about the handbag. It’s kind of big and a bit too much colors are involved. I mean, it would look so much better if she held it wearing a plain navy dress. It would flash more.

And the shoes, well, the regular classic heel would look so much better with the outfit.

  21. Aoife says:

I do love the dress but the bag looks a bit…bleh. And totally sub-par shoes, I hear ya Kickette. I wore those when I was 19 and totally without any fashion sense!

  22. The Fourth Official says:

No, not feeling the big bag love here. However, her dress is darling.

Why does the same ugly old bat keep showing up in every WAG photo? Please crop her out, Kickette – she’s putting me off my crumpet and jam.

  23. MrsXabiAlonso says:

I can’t concentrate on the bag atm, I will come back when I can give it my full attention. Right now there is a Xabi thread I need to get back to staring at!!

  24. lose that girl says:

Pah! Harlequins should be reserved for court jesters ONLY – not what is attempting to masquerade as high fashion accessories.

<sigh> I’m tired of Posh. Is that wrong?

  25. DC says:

i love Miu Miu and big bags but i’m not too fond of this one.
i don’t think it goes that well with the dress.
the dress is lovely. but the shoes…no.

  26. RedGirl says:

    I kinda like the dress.

But I’m not into the big bags. Although I’m a student and I should be taking lots of things to uni, I just choose for my small black bag the esential items: cell phone, gloss, deodorant, comb, chewing gum, keys, my wallet and tissues. And I take on my hands a nice notebook for class and my book. My mates say I’m too dressed up for that uni filled of hippies, bohemians and artists LOL

  27. SB says:

What is wrong with big bags? Why people on this site hate it so much? And I think that one is kinda cute

I like oversized accessories and usually I have to carry big bags coz I’m a student and has lots of A4 sized craps ( <img src="http://www.kickette.com/images/smileys/wink.gif" width="19" height="19" alt="wink" style="border:0;" /> ). Oh, I also like to carry biggest bags when I’m shopping, a habit really as I don’t put the stuff that i bought in it.

But big no to the shoes, please

  28. Genevieve says:

Can’t focus on the bag, just the horrendously dodgy fake tan job on Posh… doesn’t she know about the inverse relationship between fake tan and IQ?? She should follow her own Mum’s lead and keep her skin tone slightly more natural…

  29. Rusty, aka Mrs. Owen Hargreaves says:

I often carry around bags that big, and they are never, ever purses. Usually it’s a backpack that I’m also carrying with my purse.

    Yikes, Becks, get a razor!

  30. Moongirl says:

    Like the bag

    love the dress

    together? no way!!

  31. c9 says:

Sorry, won’t be picking on VB today wink

  32. lose that girl says:

I’m drunk on Hargreaves…sorry that should have read ‘contain’ not ‘contact’.

Yes, thinking way TOO MUCH about a certain kind of contact…

  33. michelle TN says:

My thoughts on big bags? The one that Posh is holding isn’t even that BIG! Yeah, I’m into larger accessories. Maybe it’s a complex b/c I stand at 5’1”.

  34. lose that girl says:

Well, we definitely know that that massive piece of luggage she’s dragging about doesn’t contact food.

I always have snacks in my purse!

  35. Bella says:

Kaya, just wanted to say that when my three kids were under the age of ten any time my husband and I went anywhere without them we held hands or had our arms around each other when we could. And don’t forget how many breaks in the action and time outs there are in bball…

  36. Bella says:

What’s wrong with everyone today? How could you notice anything but that David has his shirt buttoned up his neck? Do you think it was drafty, a buttoning accident, temporary insanity? I’m hoping he was having too much fun holding whatever part of Mrs B he likes, in whatever venue he chooses, to be have noticed. And of course that it never happens again. What is the world coming to. *sigh*

  37. goalkeeperette says:

    * keyword, d’oh!

  38. goalkeeperette says:

Let me see, what do I put in my bag when I go out? Purse, keys, mobile phone, ciggies + lighter, mp3-player, chapstick, chewing gums, a small bottle of water, tissues and a small umbrella (only in case it’s raining of course). That would fill out about a tenth part of a WAG-bag, I’m REALLY wondering what the heck is in there! The contents of their bathroom closets maybe. Well I have never stood at a bus stop and fumed at having no brush or hairspray or make-up with me. My biggest bag is about half the size of VickyB’s monstrosity. Like the pattern though. But the pocket situation of her dress is weird, indeed. <img src="http://www.kickette.com/images/smileys/confused.gif" width="19" height="19" alt="confused" style="border:0;" />

kayword class79…means I got class, oh thank you kickette! *is moved to tears*
