Style Files: WAGs, Lemmings, Ruffles

image

Kickettes, it’s the ruffle that just won’t die. Or, alternatively, the look that half of Liverpool has been sold.

Shall we count the Lanvin-inspired WAG-wearers?

As seen here, on Sheree Murphy at the SATC premiere;

Alex Curran Gerrard at Aintree;

Jude Cisse at her birthday and baby celebration; and

Coleen McLoughlin at her hen party part 10.

Who will wear it next and in what shade? We’re putting our money on someone from the D-list wearing just the ruffle to Chinawhites this weekend.

Cheers to eagle eyed Danika for the dress-ID.

  1. buen dia acabo de enterarme de tu webblog y la verdad es que me parece muy bueno no sabia de mas personas interesadas en estos temas, aqui tienes un nuevo lector que seguira visitandote mensualmente.

  2. Pink Panther says:

Too true, Cheryl! It’s the next line of defense after the elbow jab and heel stomp.

  3. Who said they could pay C-Rons hookers themselves if it meant getting rid of Whoreida? Signora Maldini, right? Well, I can pay for a new wardrobe for these people if it means I won’t have to watch all those ruffles! They are killing me!

  5. MrsMichaelOwen says:

I think you will find its Lanvin a top. Or if its the same as the white one alex wore to the mimi fragrance awards or what have you its from Linea at house of fraser.

Next one`to wear it? Im going with Yulia- a purple one with her own added diamontes.

  6. michaela says:

Ruffles are a trend that was seen on runways from summer 07…the wags just can’t do it right. A ruffled shirt or a dress with small ruffle detailing (see robert rodriguez’s line) is super feminine and cute but these gals let the ruffles take away from their beauty (yes, I think all of them – including “cabbage patch doll” alex – are pretty in their own way).

  7. Moongirl (Mrs Sender says:

I really like Sheree but I agree she should have stayed away from figure hugging and ruffles in this instance!!

I adore that bag though. As far as I can see I would probably make a very poor WAG but the only aspect I could shine at is the carrying of scrummy handbags.

  8. carly says:

Did I just say she doesn’t look like a hooker? I take it back, after looking at the picture again.

  9. carly says:

    :::yawn:::
It’s a slow day here at Kickette.

Can I post just one little off-topic? (it’s about wags)

Does anyone care to see Nani’s girlfriend? She doesn’t look like a hooker (much). She’s 24, shy and calls herself Daniela.

  10. Danika says:

I think that Sarabee was right about Crickette. That because I read an interview of Coleen in wich she said that Justin Mill(the owner)always keeps her something “special” to go out.
Girls we have also to think at the person to afford this kind of dress. Costs around 1600euro.

  11. Emily (Giggsy's Gal) says:

For the love of all that is good in this world, would these WAGs please buy themselves each a new personality??! This incessant copycatting has gotten on my last nerve?!

I don’t know who will be the next to wear a different coloured version of this dress. Obviously, it would never be Elen Rives because there aren’t any sparkles or sequins on it (although I wouldn’t put it past her to Bedazzle it herself). So, I have no idea as to who would wear it, but my vote for colour is yellow or purple. And tonight, I’m totally gonna scour the internet to find photos of some other girl wearing this dress. cheese

  13. jax says:

Really hate big ruffles – unless you’re Spanish dancing with a rose between your teeth, stay away ! Not flattering on any of them .They’re all one flounce away from being Nancy…

  14. come on, be sweet says:

we should forgive them their trespasses.
security word: forgiveness, i forgive… *you* tell!

hopefully, these women will start to tell their friends that shopping at Crickette makes you a follower and is a testament to a lack of any creativity.

  15. Jacey says:

WAGS, repeat after me: As God is my witness, I will never wear off-the-shoulder ruffles again!

  16. cheryl bites (Jos says:

Sarabee: yes, I was just thinking Crickets must have given them a group discount.

I love that thing Sheree’s doing with her face. For some reason it’s just adorable.

Im Guessing Charlotte Mears And In A Yellow Or Green
I Wish Those Ruffles Would Dissapear!

  19. Becca x says:

    I Love Sheree Cluth!
I Dont Like The Dresses But I Think Coleen Pulled It Off Best.
    Must Be From Cricket!

  20. Sara says:

    Hate the ruffles craze.
This is also not a good look on Sheree’s post-birth body.

  21. Rusty says:

ruffles, for people who want to call even more attention to their chests than is being paid already.

Sooo not for me. But maybe if I lose 30 lbs by Halloween I can be ruffled Alex.

  22. Asma:)CR7 says:

It looks like one dress that came in a few colours so the WAGs ran out to buy it.

  23. sarabee says:

I think someone at Cricket must be having a sneaky joke on them….

  24. tammyv says:

It totally makes your tatas look like tater-tots and that is so not good…

STOP NOW FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS BEAUTIFUL AND HOLY

  25. mrsredknapp says:

I love Sheree’s shoes! I do actually have a top with ruffles on it, but they are no way that big, and its not a one-shoulder, more of a sleeveless v neck top with ruffles round the v neck! its nice, i promise!!

  26. Pavi says:

This is one trend that needs to go away ASAP. I would think if you saw three other women wearing this same dress you would try to stay away from it. I do agree that Sheree looks amazing post-baby and I do love her pink clutch.

  27. Aoife says:

Yup Asma, she was Trish(a?) (if I’m not mistaken) and was married to Marlon, the pub’s chef. She died in a tragically soapy way a few years ago I think.

God, I know too much about soaps.

  28. Asma:)CR7 says:

Hmm I’m not liking the ruffle trend but I’m drawn to the pink clutch.

I didn’t know she was in Emmerdale.

  29. Aoife says:

Ah now, I’m starting to be turned off this ruffle trend. I will say I think Coleen pulled it off the best.

Ah Sheree, I was reading her and Harry’s interview in OK this week (very WAG centric actually) and marvelled at her endless supply of Chloe tops and cute shoes. Good wardrobe Sheree.

Didn’t a house fall on her or something in Emmerdale? Or was it a fire that killed her?

  30. The ruffle thing is getting out of hand. Stop it immediately.

Sheree’s dress doesn’t fit her properly. Not flattering. The best one can say about her ruffles is that they draw attention from her hips.

I wish I could read the text.

  31. Signora Maldini says:

    Make. It. Stop.

    Please.

My fashion sensibilities cannot handle the horror.

  32. MrsXabiAlonso says:

Kickette you’ve lost your writing under the adverts.

I’m not even sure why they are all wearing it. I mean they look OK, but nothing special. I am in love with Sheree’s clutch though, so pink, I love it!! And she is looking fab post baby.

And, yes, deffo Charlotte or Dani next!! One of the skeezes!!!

  33. Laura Dagger says:

Aren’t they the same shoes Jude wore too?

  34. Gigi Neville-Brown says:

Sheree looks like the cat who ate the canary.

My vote goes to Charlotte Mears attempting this one at Chinawhites. Enough ladies. Wouldn’t kill you to be a bit original.

  35. FootballerChick43 says:

I hate that ruffle trend. Theres no way in this side of Hades that you could EVER get me to wear one. NOt even if you strap me down and forced me to wear one or become severely mutilated.

Well, possibly if the last bit. But you get what I mean.

They’re terrible, and I’ll leave it at that.

  36. AJ says:

Do any of these women get that Alexander wore it first so they are actually biting her style? They are ACTUALLY copying Alex Gerrard. WTF? I’d rather walk into a Manchester pub wearing a liverpool scarf as a headband.

And because they have, she can now officially be called a trendsetter. Well done ladies. Thanks for encouraging her.

Oh yeah, not a fan of the ruffles. But of all the offenders, *cough* Alex wore it best.

  37. cheryl bites (Jos says:

Panther: I suppose it stops perverts feeling your tits… because THEY CAN’T FIND THEM.

Panther: I suppose it stops perverts feeling your tits… because THEY CAN’T FIND THEM.

  39. Pink Panther says:

Little ruffles are cute. Big honkin’ ruffles across the bustline is never a good thing. Get sorted girls.

  40. carly says:

Daniela has a bit of a cleavage, notice that she doesn’t button up her shirt. But she’s not too bad.
Asma, I think it’s the trademark of a poxy tabloid, to underline their own news so that readers don’t have to do it themselves.
It says that their relationship has been known to his family for a while now.

  41. Rusty says:

Sheree is beginning to remind me of Princess Leia, and if she puts on the gold metal bikini I might throw up. (It’s not her; it’s the gold metal bikini.)

And yes, Alex wore it best, but that’s of course choosing the least of four evils. Coleen looks like a poorly-dyed bouquet of flowers, Jude looks like a flamenco dancer, and Sheree, well, see above.

  42. Sheree’s pose is all wrong. It’s drawing attention to her post-baby tum with her arms circling around her abdomen. The cut of the dress isn’t flattering either. The ruffle neckline doesn’t do any favours. A bad choice.

Ruffles should be left to potato chips, not dresses!!

  43. Asma:)CR7 says:

Carly she doesn’t seem that bad to me. I had no idea what the article is about but I noticed the highlighting in the text which was probably about the girl.

  44. Lil' says:

I don’t like the ruffle, really it makes them look big

and carly, I don’t think she looks like a hooker, well probably because we can see only her face behind sunglasses, she looks normal to me.

please, stop the ruffles, I imagine what it may look like when it is windy

  46. MrsS-Gewward-x [FoOt says:

Yup! I agree..alex wore it best!!

  47. brandy says:

Goodness. Everyone please step away from the ruffles. And the YSL Tributes while we are all at it.
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but, *big deep centering breath* Alex wore it best. With Colleen coming in in a close second.
    There, I said it.
And just in the spirit of honesty, I wish I could afford/get a cheap rip off so I could wear one too!
*goes to hide in a corner and cry for a few minutes until the shame subsides*
