Sylvie van der Vaart: First Place In Our Hearts

Sylvie van der Vaart wrapped up her stint on Let’s Dance last week by coming in 2nd place behind German actress Sophia Thomalla. Overcoming injuries, training mishaps and partner changes, we must give major snaps to Sylvie for finishing the show with her fabulosity intact.
Her final week of competition was not much different than her season-long run – Sylvie suffered a broken rib during rehearsals but insisted on competing anyway. She later said she soldiered on so as to not disappoint son Damian on his 4th birthday (which coincided with the show’s finale).
So, now that she’s kicked off her ballroom shoes, what’s up next for Holland’s beloved WAG? For starters, she just signed a lucrative three-year contract with German broadcaster RTL that includes various presenting duties and her own show (likely to be about fashion). She’ll also be broadcasting live during the World Cup from Berlin’sĀ Fan Fest.
FYI, the Fan Fest is a FIFA-sponsored viewing party that will simulcast all WC matches near Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate. Any plans for our German Kickettes to gather together and take in the thrills of victory and/or agonies of defeat?
If you missed Sylvie’s final dance moments, you can re-live them here.

She was brilliant on that show and she won lots of hearts with that show in Germany at least. I was voting for her, sadly the other chick (terrible btw) won.
Meh.
But yeah, Sylvie is our number one!!!
With courage and grace under pressure, the reigning queen of WAG’s rules us all. Namaste, Sylvie!
l love this woman. Absolutely class
Congrats for soldiering on, Sylvie!
You have to at least like her…
Well done Sylvie!
Congrats, Sylvie!
Sylvie van der Vaart might be the toughest person alive. I love her! And I want that costume she's wearing in the top photo. I want to wear it to graduation.
First place indeed. Sylvie is the best.
beat cancer, dance thru broken rib – that lovely lady is made of nails.
