The Monday Mmm: Iker Casillas
Photos like this of Real Madrid’s Iker Casillas (at a press conference in Toronto) make crazed, jumping, screaming and all around fangirling feel so right. The Real players seemed pretty happy to be here in DC. The training session was closed to general public but if you go to http://www.behindthebadge.com you can see a pic of CRon smiling at press conference & video of their training session at Fed Ex where a few players signed stuff for fans that were lucky enough to get in the closed practice. There was a reception with Madrid players & DCU players the night before the match. I was not there but a friend who went said he found all the players to be extremely nice.
I like scruffy Iker. American weather has done him well, I think.
It's a shame that for all the excitement Real's arrival caused in my city, the actual players couldn't muster a smile or any sense of happiness out of coming to the footy hotbed that is Toronto. Going through the motions much? I could see it if they didn't have screaming fans waiting at the airport, or waiting hor hours for just a glimpse at BMO field. Smells of overly spoilt players. Our city deserved better. lose that girl
I'm still kicking myself over the fact that i did not get to go to the game. My friends who went had a great time =( i didn't bother to go to the open practice when they arrived because it was far too crowded too.

It was Iker Sunday and Iker Monday…I’m not really huge on him, but he did give his top to someone in the front row at the match yesterday, I wanted to die of jealousy. @lemonstarbursts-please do post photos! I’ve only got one good one, that my friend took, where he’s ready to stop the ball in goal, quality shot.

I was at that game on Friday and let me tell you guys this man is GORGEOUS!!!!! His face is PERFECT…. I watched him most of the time while he was on the pitch and the bench…..

Re: Toronto BTW, I’m not talking about the smiles that lit up their faces post-goal scoring during the Toronto FC match. I’m talking walking through the throngs of fans with no grins, no stopping for autographs at the hotel. Coming to North America was to promote the game (and their team specifically) and when athletes come this far and do not show one iota of caring for the fans who pay the big bucks, well it’s not okay in my books. They’re paid a heck of a lot and for that, they should get over the jet lag and desire to be still on vacay.
Not all teams behave this way on goodwill tours.
