Tim Howard: He Scorez, He Sadz

http://www.dailymotion.com/videoxng5wy

We weren’t sure whether we could love Timmy Howard any more. Just to recap, we know that he looks like this naked and is clearly an ‘all-round top bloke‘ if our recent convo with him was anything to go by. But his response to scoring a wind-assisted wonder goal vs. Bolton Wanderers last night set off all kinds of special lovin’ feelings for us.

Howard’s 63rd minute clearance took an unlikely bounce in front of Bolton stopper Adam Bogdan and sailed into his net, but Howard observed the ‘keeper code and didn’t join in with his ecstatic team-mates’ mad celebrations. He later said he felt “awful” about scoring, especially since he too was suffering with the appalling weather conditions in the ground. Aww.

He needn’t have worried, though. Bolton ended up winning the game 2-1 after late strikes from David Ngog and Gary Cahill, so any concerns Timmy may have had about upsetting the karmic balance of global football have been allayed.

Good. We’re not sure we could take any more weirdness.

    Tim Howard: Class Act.

Love the USA USA USA from the Evertonians.

(And Tim Howard petting Landon Donovan on the head due to the height differential).

Hope Everton scrapes together a win soon again. Sigh.

Freak goal but reacted well.. Shows that Everton needs something more though when your keeper scores your only goal.. I think they miss the Yak.

Tim was such a great guy about his goal last night because he knows a freak accident like that could happen to anyone. In fact, it's happened to him: http://youtu.be/WUR1jKJW42I (except in that game the other goalie celebrated).

Ohhh! I didn't know it was during his EPL days that it happened to him. I was thinking it was while he was in the US. So he is one of the other of the 4 cases it has happened in the history of the EPL. Karma? Maybe Bogdan get's one next?

Anyone else think Bogdan looks like a ginger Tom Brady? I suppose that wouldn't be a bad thing if you're into either of them.

I feel bad for him, though. I feel like he just needs to get his legs in goalkeeping in a less stressful situation, but he's usually been covering goal with some tough teams. I believe he was the one that was in when Chelsea played? Or one of the teams that scored a bunch of goals against them… can't recall. Poor bebe!

Tim's time in goal has taught him well to be gracious. I think he didnt expect that of his punt at all (some think he did so with intention). Letting in a goal as a keeper, whether it is your fault or not, is one of the most terrible feelings in sports.

  9. Georgina says:

In American football, a goal like that is called a "Hail Mary Pass" well, in this case, this is a Hail Mary Kick. Props to TIm for not celebrating. He really is a nice guy. A HOT NICE GUY.

I feel really bad for Bogdan – he's let in a few turkeys in the past, and there'll be a few people who'll put the blame on him now for this, even though he was hardly off his line and it was a genuinely freak wind-assisted goal. :/ (It was *ridiculously* windy last night, has been for about a week now, before anyone asks)

Oh, and he's really, really pretty as well. Not that that is influencing my argument here, nosir. *whistles innocently*

Fair play to Tim Howard for being gentlemanly and sporting about it all though.
