Torsten Frings and His Face Mask
So, this is Torsten Frings, who plays in midfield for Werder Bremen in Germany. He’ll be hitting the pitch for their Champions League game against Anorthosis Famagusta tonight.
But enough with those petty details of teams with names we will never be able to pronounce correctly.
Let’s get to the real matter at hand: his leather face mask.
Do you like? It’s okay to admit it if you do. At first, we were scared. Very scared. Then, curious and intrigued. Now, we’re a little excited by it.
Don’t judge.
Alas, Torsten wasn’t wearing this mask strictly for our fantasy benefit, he recently broke his nose and wears it for safety while things heal. Oh, and he likes it, too.
“I am the new Zorro,” the midfielder joked in an interview with BILD.
Frings has no fear of playing with the injury. After all, he played in the European Championships with a broken rib. And the Zorro comparison doesn’t hurt either. “I am the new Zorro, maybe I can try for a part in an upcoming film. The resemblance to Antonio Banderas is there. Although I am a bit better looking.”
Ah, arrogance and a leather mask. What more could a girl ask for? One thing is for certain, it’s a damn sight sexier than that Godawful headgear Petr Cech is stuck with.

Zorro facemask or no, I dislike Torsten "handball" Frings. It does, however, look much better than that clear one that JT had to wear that made him look like a creepy grandfather.
as the resident Werder Bremen follower who can’t actually watch Werder Bremen lest they play like butt, I’d like to take responsibility for their game today. I followed them on the ESPN ticker!
