Transfer Totty: Short & Sweeties

Update: Espanyol completed the signing of Portuguese winger Simao Sabrosa from Turkish giants Besiktas yesterday; Daniele De Rossi confirmed this morning that he won’t fly the AS Roma coop for Man City, causing our eyes to well up in sentimental glee; and Luka Modric is/was isn’t reportedly in Madrid to finalize his move from Tottenham to the reining La Liga champions side.

In football fan terms: this is exciting, sensational stuff.

In Kickette terms: Simao and DDR are (still) hot while Modric is (still) not good-looking. Whatsoever. Real talk, Kickettes.

I just want Madrid to keep signing pretty players. Surely we can come up with someone hotter than Modric.

Those of you who don't want Modric might want to go back and watch his Euro performance with Croatia. He came on and ran circles around the defense. In full disclosure, he is one of my favorite players (Croatia was my team long before any club). I worry about him fitting in, too, though for different reasons. But as much as I dislike Mou, I also recognize his managerial wisdom. As for me, it will be an interesting lesson in tolerance and support watching Luka play for RM.

:) it is not that we don't rate Modric highly, in the contrary he is an excellent midfielder but we just have Kaka, Nuri, Granero, Lass and Xabi of course there is Di Maria and Callejon, all of these player comes under midfielders, where would he fit it? how acceptable he would be coming from being Spurs number one star to sitting on the bench for RM, how would this effect the likes of Granero?…etc that's it's

It is not matter of rating him highly or not!

I'm not into having Modric at Madrid, and it hurts my heart to think about Kaká going, but if these things are going to happen, I just want them to be finalized so I can start working through the stages of grief.

completely agree. I don't want Modric. We have PLENTY of midfielders. Even Mou said we have a lot. And how will Modric fit in? There is no way he will break up the Sami-Xabi partership, there's already Ozil, Kaka, and di Maria…..and I don't even want to think about Kaka leaving…he won't….I couldn't take it….

I honestly think (Sunday's game not withstanding) we have the best squad in Spain, if not Europe. And even though if we get Modric and he does well I'll be happy, you're right that he's an unnecessary addition. I'm not sure I'll ever quite forgive him if his coming is what forces Kaká out.

I just look at the Modric saga thinking why is that our team is part of it!

I love how Marca get trolled, it is called Karma!

  7. LuvinBale says:

Boo! On Modric!!! Between him and Dempsey- who has had the worst behavior?

    • OhDear says:

In Modric's defense, didn't the club or Redknapp promise him that they'd transfer him to RM last year?

      • Whatnow says:

Yup. Pretty much sums up my entire stance on the Modric "saga." Let him go… at this point, Levy's asinine business practices have ruined the dynamic of his team, anyway. Best to leave Luka out.

      • LuvinBale says:

I don't disagree with- just let him go. My annoyance with these two gentlemen is their lack of respect for their clubs. I know they want to leave but in my opinion these clubs helped make them what they are today. So be a good team player and show up for practice.
Be professional because you are a professional.

No other profession could you do that in. I don't want to come to work today because I want to work for Vogue instead.

        Just my humble opinion

I will NEVER forgive DDR or what he did toi BMB's pretty face, EVER… but he had better be nice to bb Bradley

Bassong just left Tottenham too. Modric is crazy, but jJose should be able to keep him in line.
