Wayne Rooney: The Bald Truth

Here’s Wayne with his slightly sore looking ‘do. It’s in the seedling stage at the mo, but we are certain it will bloom in due course. Image Source: yfrog.

Every fibre of our collective beings wants to mock, okay? We’ve been¬†valiantly fighting it since Saturday morning, when Manchester United’s follicular fail of a striker tweeted the news that he had undergone a hair transplant. Maybe it’s the term ‘hair transplant’ and who we imagine the recipient of such a procedure might end up looking like.

Despite our best efforts, we haven’t been able to conjure up anything too mean to say about Wazza and his costly coverage. As he pointed out, he was going bald at 25-years-old, so we understand his reasons in seeking out John Travolta’s hair line. Also, we like that he’s treating the whole issue with the kind of good humour that¬†instantly renders anyone taking the micky out of him desperate. And we hate looking desperate.

Good on ya, Wayne. Oh, and good luck in the dressing room pre-season. We suspect you might need it.

My dad got a transplant many years ago. I can tell you he was not a good sport about it. I still giggle thinking back about him wearing a ski hat in the middle of July, cursing on his return that I'd left my bike in the driveway so all the neighbors could see him. I asked him why he didn't just take the ski hat off. =)
He hadn't told me in advanced, so I was just perplexed at his foul mood. I don't think Wayne has much choice but to tell the world and put on his bravest face.

well i dont think he will look any better with a hair transplant

Lol true. Off season and slow news day. Most footballers and managers are on holiday, so there is nothing to report on. And no transfers as of yet.

  7. beri says:

It's his money and if it makes him happy and feel more comfortable….so be it. Nothing's wrong with it…

People need to get off their high horse…he didn't spend your money and at least he was honest about it…

I don't care for it. Some guys go bald young, big deal.

  9. IrishBlue says:

Oh god. Fair play to Wayne for being upfront about it. I would prefer a bald man to one with a hair transplant though but that's just me. I just remember how awful Stephen Ireland's looked.

"Anyone recommend any good hair gel. Haha"

I so wanted to reply to this tweet that he should call up CR7. :p

It's good that he admits it and has a sense of humor about it. Someone else mentioned women not admitting to cosmetic surgery. Still, they often get judged really harshly. Does it seem hypocritical to judge a woman for trying to conform to society's ideal image of what is attractive but not a man? (That was one of my initial thoughts.) Is it okay just because someone admits it and has a good attitude about it? What do people think about this?

    • Rosa says:

My brothers saw it and had a little giggle about it for about 2 minutes, but then just moved on. They dont care really. With us women we go into the nitty gritty stuff about other women. We are our own worst enemy sometimes.

  12. LisaB says:

lol football's very own Joan Rivers: complete with the cosmetic surgery and foul mouth.

  13. JA7 says:

    Whaaaaaaaat the sh*t?!

  14. I appreciate that he was actually able to man up and admit to it. Looks painful though!

    • Caitlin says:

Totally agree with you! Not a fan of Rooney at all, but it's great he's being so open about it. Now you could say that it's bloody obvious to everyone anyway, but how many women have boob jobs and then pretend they never?

      • I was thinking the same thing about women who have boob jobs and deny it! LOL! I think if you're bold enough to go through with it, why deny it? Show those babies off!!!

  15. @AgnesWonka says:

it's good that he had a hair transplant. He is very young and is already getting bold :S

This kind of subjects that leave you with the sense of: ok! *straight face* no comment!. Piers Morgan on twitter managed to come up with couple of jokes already and I never know that Rooney has this side (humour), I appreicate it lol.
