Weekend Results: Gold Stars For Barcelona and Inter

Is that Lionel Messi’s boyhood spirit leaving him just in time for a major tourney? Let’s hope not! Image via AP Photos

With two second half goals last night, (bringing his total in all competitions this season to 47),  Leo may well look happy. Barcelona last night confirmed their place at the top of La Liga with a thumping 4-0 victory over Vallodolid. Real Madrid were held 1-1 away at Malaga and finish in second.

Around the same time, in a city some distance away, Inter Milan came perilously close to confirming Jose Mourhino’s belief that he is the greatest human being ever created with a 1-0 away win at Siena.

Although second place Roma won 2-0 at Chievo, their victory wasn’t enough to prevent Inter taking the Serie A title for the fifth time in a row.

Earlier this month, Mourhino’s men beat Roma to win the Italian Cup and are therefore on course for the treble, facing Bayern Munich in the Champions League final on 22nd May in Madrid.

In case you were wondering, we’ve got photos.

Is it bad that even though I’m totally bummed about Roma losing, that picture of De Rossi and Mexes turns me on? I feel like it’s the bright side of the loss.

Their first scudetto is just a GIFT from JUVENTUS… they didn’t won it on the pitch!!!

Oh i´m just so happy!! The fantastic Barcaboys did it again!! YYEEEAAYY!

Now the wait for the world cup won´t seem so long. I can just sit back and watch photos and clips from the game/games, the celebration and all the delight that is Barca. What a night! And soulful Iniesta almost started to cry when he held his speech. Love him! And Messi: top scorer! I can just go on and on…

  14. Emma says:

Yay so happy for my Barca boys! Now World Cup time, so exciting :)
This year, Messi was sober for the celebrations, boo. His opening line (at the celebration last night) was, “This year, I’m not going to say anything weird” lol

  15. SunnyK says:

LoL @ the caption on the picture!

  16. Ali says:

    The Barcelona celebrations were awesome.

    SO MANY BUBBAS.

Between Marquez, Gabi, and Pinto's gorgeous kids, Abidal asking his wife to bring their daughters jackets, and Busi sitting on the grass playing in the confetti with all the little ones, it was so cute.

  17. Inés says:

Congrats to Inter and Barça. Leo wasn't as happy as last year (maybe it has to do with drunkness).

    • Zlatanista says:

lol, yeah he was wasted! But now he had his nephew on his shoulders and i guess he had to be an responsible uncle… But he was more fun last year, though.

  18. Homeskillet17 says:

FORCA BARCAAAAA! :) )))) woot! *confetti*

  19. Einah says:

Cheers to Barca! Now, you only have to buy Villa and I'll be saving up for a Barcelona trip :D

  20. Missy Manchester says:

Jose is a great manager…second only to Sir Alex! I do find both men quite amusing. This week, I laughed watching Jose's interview on the team bus…feet up…about to have a nap. The poor reporter was having a hard time positioning the mic to accommodate laissez-faire Jose. LOL

  21. tammyv says:

Wow.. Did Elen let Messi steal Isla to celebrated their beloved Barca Repeat? That kid on Messi's shoulders looks like the Isla on Lamps's shoulders

Congrats to Bayern and Inter doing the double…and both on course for the Treble (should be an epic final on Sat)

Congrats to Braca and Chelsea… and yeah, Jose is the greatest manager on the planet

  22. Senorita Iniesta says:

Has anybody an idea who Messi's shoulder-rider was?

Apparently not his own son, but who else's?

He was too cute to believe …

  23. gina says:

Visca Barca! So happy for my boys! :D

  24. Thea says:

Well Ramos – it never hurts to dream and for 259 million euros you desevered better than the nightmares your team had! Well done Barca – here's to Messi and co having a blinding world cup, and coming back even more accomplished!

  25. senora ramos says:

    :(

congrats to the winners. we'll be there next year. on to the world cup :D
