Weekend Results: Good For You?

Hold me.

Another fabu weekend of football, including Iker Casillas showing his usual range of emotions. We call this one “tender inner turmoil”.

We watched Juventus lose to Cagliari, Liverpool take the Merseyside derby over Everton; Jimmy Bullard’s brilliant goal celebration for Hull City; and saw Chelsea beat Arsenal at home (both sides got extremely wet with nary a hair product able to maintain proper styling consistency).

We also were tuned in for the action in Catalunya for El Clasico, where Barcelona’s Zlatan Ibrahminovic scored the 1-0 winner over long-time rivals Real Madrid.

Side note: when did Gerard Pique become this hot? A mere blip on our radar prior, we are have arrived at the point that the F5 has been called into question.

There was news of a laser attack on the players during the Barca/Real game, but we can’t be bothered to translate. (We’re still evaluating how many combined ‘ballers from El Clasico we would be comfortable bribing into our beds with cherries and cognac.)

So far, we’re somewhere near the 8 or 9 mark.

How were the weekend results for you? Good, bad or don’t even ask?

That pic of the Everton supporter helping the Liverpool supporter just melted my heart. Classy stuff, Merseyside.

Now that my job prevents me from watching footie, my co-workers are treated to various random gasps of joy and groans when score results come through on my phone. This past weekend was much more of the gasps of joy side. :D

  5. Trisha (Mrs Iker Casillas) says:

Oh my baby, Iker… Im here now… no need to feel sad and lonely anymore…. XOXOXO

Real Madrid really did play well…. but not well enough. They are improving. It was really a bad weekend. Valencia drew!!!

  6. Guapa_Grl_BS6 says:

If my happiness could be measure, it would have been 2/3!!! It started bad with Arsenal’s defeat :( am still mad at the refs decision but we have to move on and win the next matches!!! Then Barca won el Clásico against the Mandriles so that def brighten up my day…:) Puyol was AMAZING along with the whole entire defense and IBRA finally demonstrated that he is a true Culé!!! Then Roma won and my calcio boys looked fantastic :) ….by the way I am enjoying that sad face of defeat of Iker because I did not enjoy his comment against Barca!!!

Chelsea win was full of epic joy. Seriously. Maintaining a five point lead over Manchester? I'll take that.

Real Madrid's was kind of suckish. Heartbreaking, more than anything, I think.

Also watched quite a bit of the Italian and African leagues out of boredom. I love African football. It totally has a completely different vibe than any other continent's football.

All in all, a halfway amazing footie weekend for me.

Watchin Iker like this makes my heart shatter and my eyes tear! My baby doesn’t deserve this! oh god dear god I don’t wanna see him like this anymore…

  13. Alix says:

    Catalunia?
    Catalonia, or preferably, Catalunya.

Thank God for Puyol. That is all I have to say about the mess they call El Clasico.

  14. Amyy says:

    Don’t. Even. Ask.
But I’m finding the picture of the old man at Liverpool So cute its kinda making up for being in a bad mood with Pompey :)

  15. carly says:

About the laser attacks, I heard something funny: the reporters asked Abidal about the attacks on the RM players and he replied that the lasers didn't reach Barça players because they played really fast. hahaha smartie.

Ah, this was an insane weekend but Porto finally won and that's all that matters in the end. *sigh*

  16. Venice says:

Pretty good weekend I’d say :-D

Liverpool grabbed a really important win that I hope will finally get them some confidence back. My favourite players (Niko and Charlie) continue to play in top form and look cute as well :-) I had a busy day with the family on Sunday so I didn’t get to see any football, but seeing emo Iker never fails to melt me down.

  17. Pelly says:

    Arsenal ;(;( My Arsenal…Anyways,Barça won!!!YAHOOO IBRA!!

  18. Sarah says:

Yesterday was the worst day ever for football (of all types). The only result that went my way was the Barca win, but I couldn't even watch it because I recorded the wrong freaking game on my DVR. Every other game was a total absolute failure.

  19. mila_casillas says:

I was not happy with the results because Real Madrid lost! They fought so valiantly and Ibra (whom I love/hate with all my heart) comes in and scores within five minutes.

Oh, Iker, Iker. Poor baby. Let me make the pain/sadness go away.

Did anyone catch when he put his hands together, looked up and said “por favor!” (Translation: “please!”) Iker praying for miracles to help his team makes me want to cry.

    =*(

    • H.J. says:

OMG! yes, i saw that and wondered what he was saying. :D

thnx 4 letting me know. the Barca boys are my boys but i still LOVE Sergio Ramos, Iker(my baby) and Cristian (even with his blonde tips)

  20. LizB (Mrs. Vucinic) says:

Finally it WAS a good footie weekend for me. Both Roma AND Pool won. Would’ve been even better if LAX had had free wifi so I could’ve watched them. *le sigh*

  21. Merv says:

Barca won and I’m extremely happy about it….but Iker is so beautiful in his sadness that it does tug on my heartstrings a little bit.

  22. bubbly_cheryl says:

excellent! united played like proper men! and tomasz did so brilliant in goal (seriously, he was great!) the defenders were strong and muscled their way (i’m looking at wes and vida) and our midfield was filled with glorious man candy (it rained you see, shame the lads weren’t wearing white, i was hoping the kits would go see-through….) and well done to wazza for his hat-trick and i loved how he saluted ryan by letting him have the free-kick cause he did set him up nicely for his goal! (I LOVE MANCHESTER UNITED!!!!!- SO PROUD TO BE A RED DEVIL!!!!!!)

  23. HiL says:

    Great result, United won :D
Jimmy Bullard is a genius! best celebration ever!
Iker looks like he needs someone to hug. XD

  24. Our result was lovely, thank you. A hattrick for Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs’ 100th League goal, and an excellent turn in goal by Tomasz. Well done, boys!

    Jimmy Bullard rocks! Cheeky beggar.

I reserve a tiny snicker for Real Madrid.

    • How could I have forgotten to mention the OTHER important result this weekend!!! Roy Keane and Ipswich Town got their first away win of the season at Cardiff City. That team has stolen a piece of my heart, I swear. Such great lads and what a great fightback to come home with all 3 points. And Roy looked so good, my God . . . *fans self* Lots of pictures and video are posted in his thread in the community. But be prepared, it's hot in there!

      Sniff-sniff. You're mean.

      Sniff… Hala… Sniff… Madrid. :(

  25. SweetVito says:

Arsenal lost, Chelsea won, and in the same game. I also destroyed my brand-new boots in the rain on my way to said game. It was not a good weekend.

  26. Amy MUFC ( : says:

    LOVED THE HULL CELEBRATION

    BULLARD IS A LEGEND !!!!

  27. Laura says:

The Ramos in the rain makes me feel like I'm gonna pass out.

Combine that with Pique (glad everyone's realizing that he's a stud.) and I started to forget there was an actual match going on. For a few minutes there, I thought I was just watching this glorious montage of the Ramos and Pique romping around whilst wet.

  28. Dii says:

Poor Iker is looking very scary in the picture above. ^^ Although I hate to see sad Iker, I still was overwhelmed with joy when Barça won. Well done, lads. ^^

And finally a Premier league win for my Liverpool boys! I was so proud of them. Unfortunately Arsenal didn't do nearly that well… ;(

  29. Elise says:

A great weekend for Chelsea and their supporters! It was a fantastic match (Arsenal played very well, too) and my boys were just amazing. And John- well, John was brilliant. *love* But he was definitely not alone in that. The defense was perhaps the best its been all season. The midfield was strong, and Didier, Anelka and Joe Cole were everywhere. And it was really wonderful to have Frank back. The team is just better with him in it. And I was so pleased for Ashley for putting in a performance like that despite the antagonistic element that was present. Well done. I'm so very proud of them and so proud to be Chelsea blue!

  30. Wendy (Mrs. J. Terry says:

Chelsea boyz were amazing. My captain was on fire! I love him so much! *************hearts*************

  31. CNB says:

    Love the photo of Iker!

Chelsea won, so I am very pleased.

  32. julia says:

Pool and Barca won, which means it was a GREAT weekend!! And this is a day when I'm a proud swede, cause of IBRA of course ;)

  33. KateAlonso says:

good for me! definitely! Liverpool won and so did Barca! I'm sorry Xabi, luv, you have to forgive me that :P

  34. LoveLamps says:

Chelsea are still top of the league. That's really all that matters in the end. Very proud of Fiorentina and Real Madrid for their excellent displays of fighting spirit this weekend, not to mention how fine they looked out there and yes they did look mighty fine. Vargas' hair is always a winner as is THE RAMOS in the rain. :)

  35. teamtoto says:

i've also started noticing how hot Gerard Pique is! haha! yum :) :P

AND LIVERPOOL & BARCA WON!! WOO!

  36. Zatti says:

don’t even ask, i feel so bad for real….

but regarding the hot "ballers from el clasico" i came to the conclusion that next time they should just play shirtless and we would distinguish teams by the shorts…. would be perfect

  37. Riya (Come on you Re says:

Oh Iker! I'll give you a hug!

Kickette, just fyi there is an epic pic of Stevie's thighs on the LFC.tv website from the win over Everton. :)
