Weekend Results: Good For You?

Glad to see that magic lamp we invested in has granted our ‘more ballers flashing the flesh’ wish.

We’ve been revelling in the glory of Didier Drogba and his muscle groups all day.  ‘Nando Torres proved that less can be more, and when we found this video of Cesc Fabregas it felt like Christmas, birthdays and London Fashion Week all rolled into one.

Let’s check in on the pitch ‘n bitch action from this weekend:

- Didier Drogba’s abs would argue otherwise, but here’s the question: has Chelsea’s slip up given the Red Devilettes out there cause for early title celebrations? Or will Wayne Rooney’s injury hamper their quest for four in a row?

Side note: lovely to see curly-haired-cutie Owen Hargreaves back in the stands (and playing for the reserves this week). Our fantasies of seeing him in South Africa just moved a step closer to reality.

- What’s gwannin’ with Liverpool? The 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford made it ten this season. We’re worried that our tellies could be facing a Stevie Gerrard and ‘Nando-less Champions League – which we can only compare to a WAG vacation without Louis Vuitton luggage. It’s just not right.

- The big Gunner news (other than Cesc and his shirtless media moment, natch) was Thomas Vermaelen’s sending off. Controversial and good looking, that was.

Rando: Hope you’re as excited about the Champions League draw as we are. Barca v Arsenal? Simply delish. We can’t wait. (Thierry Henry, on the other hand, isn’t too thrilled.)

- Congrats to Rangers for winning the CIS cup and to Benefica for claiming the Portuguese League Cup after thrashing Porto 3-0.

- Kudos also to Lionel Messi for hitting three for the second week in a row *video check sound*, that is one mega-talented fraggle, y’all.

- We loved seeing Yoann Gourcuff hit up the score sheet for Bordeaux in Ligue 1, and in seeing his expression of obvious delight upon hearing we were waiting stalking for him in the players lounge.

- Roma’s Mirko Vucinic was our hat-trick hottie of the weekend but we’re sending over some pick-me-ups after a ‘mare of a week for Juve.

- FYI, our spies at Craven Cottage on Thursday saw a grown man almost reduced to tears after being snubbed by Alex Del Piero. We can’t decide whether this is cute or disturbing and we’d like to believe Alex would never do the same to us.

- How was your weekend Kickettes? Hope you got the results/’baller nakedness you wanted.

How my weekend was? Let me just say: Messi!! And you will know that it was fantastic, tremendous and just unbelievable!

I am a little concerned over the CL-draw, though. I mean, Arsenal against Barca… One of them will have to go, and thats sad. But still, i am a barca-girl at heart. i will have to go with them.

  2. Gina says:

    Ohhhhh Drogz… :)

  3. YoungChelsea4Life says:

I could not believe Chelsea drew-with Blackburn (no offence to Blackburnettes)- but when I saw that picture of Drogba it made it all better! :)

  4. Luvin'Bale says:

Is there no love for Tottenham? I wouldnt say it was their best game but they are holding on to 4th place pretty hard. Love my boys- especially Bale. HOT!!!

  5. Alisha! says:

It was an awesome weekend, as a Rangers fan we got our first trophy of the season and Barca and Arsenal are still on track for the league :D

  6. ba says:

yoann and nando…so UNFFF! Drogba has a nice body but the fugly face…no no

About Liverpool's match, was so disappointing

  7. sounderslove says:

    ooh Fernando abs. I like.

  8. Running down the win says:

Had the best weekend! Win agains liverpool and chelsea drawing (thanks Big Sam!) soooooo proud of my Red Devils! Rooney for being his awesome self, Vida for keeping torres quiet and not getting sent off! (yeahyeah nando got one goal but whatcha gonna do), Park for running his cute little arse off and scoring the winner, Fletcher for making Keano himself proud and the rest because you are United and I'm so damn happy I support you!

  9. A Champions League without Nando and Stevie- Devastating

A Liverpool side without them- Unimaginable.

*Fingers crossed they make it to fourth spot*

  10. The weekend’s results were quite positive for United but I am not getting carried away. Keeping players healthy and free of suspensions will be important factors over the next 6 weeks, but experience, character, a winning mentality and team unity come into it too. My heart says United for a fourth consecutive title, but my head says one game at a time.

By the way, Wayne isn’t injured. He has been nursing a tender knee, but he was not in the treatment room today.

  11. Inés says:

Creat weekend! United won the derby *smiles proudly*. Cesc turned on the entire continent with that interview! Vermaelen’s sent-off wasn’t fair!
Rooney’s injured? oh god please no!

  12. sahra says:

great weekend for the gooners, if only the mancs tripped up as well.

    as for Barca, bring it!

more Vermaelen please! he's so sexy.

  13. gise says:

my weekend was great. My boys won at Stoke (a hard thing to do), Villa drew and Liverpool lost. City losing would've been grand but you can't have everything.

  14. SoMysterious says:

ugh…this weekendwas a sad one for me…my poor babyp[Marco Borriello :-p] was sick and didn’t play…but otherwise all was good…

  15. ToffeeGirl16 says:

Won on Saturday so absolutely over the moon.

Bolton hate Arteta who scored another wonderful free kick. (he seems to score everytime Bolton come to Goodison! That is third time in four seasons! Only been with us since 2005). Pienaar scored as well. Any lady think he is moving, think again! Everton= home and they are in talks for any extension!

If Arteta keeps playing like he is, he will be in South Africa unless the Spanish coach is blind to all the goals Arteta is nabbing. King Louis has a rival.

Over the moon and so glad Liverpool lost. Thanks Man Utd for returning the favour!

  16. Linda (Gooner till I says:

Weekend results: I'm very happy (well… apart from that stupid red card)

CL draw?? Not so happy. Barcelona? Leo Messi? I'm scared s*itless (hope our players don't have the same mindset). Also I don't want to "play" against Titi… :( But I have to deal with it.

  17. Sarah says:

Aww, that Titi interview! Total legend, I love him forever and I won't hear otherwise.

But celebration or no, he better not score against us.

  18. Blair says:

Am not yet prepared to discuss the details of this football weekend. Still recovering and can’t bring myself to talk about it…

  19. senora ramos says:

good weekend as we pulled it out, but horrible footy v sporting. nice, nice header by xabi and wonderful set up by c ron. could’ve had some sergio nakedness, but alas, it was not to be. however can i say turning on espn after the bubba’s birthday party and seeing RM in all the high def glory was amazing. they should pick up el clasico!!
messi’s 2nd was simply stunning. it saddens me to know that he wil not be leaving barca (like, ever). he is absolutely amazing.

    • Thea says:

When is comes to El Classico all I can say is that things will get Messi for RM!!! Ha ha!

      • senora ramos says:

it shall be the battle of the argentines, but thankfully we have other goal scores as well!!

        • Thea says:

well CR9 and Kaka will have to pull it out the hat if the want to be with a chance of regaining the Ballon D’or – as they don’t have the CL to play anymore!

          • senora ramos says:

I, as an RM fan, think that if the Ballon D'or goes to anyone besides Messi there is something wrong. The only way I see him not getting it at this point is if Deigo does what he always does and screws up Argentine in the Cup and England go far and Rooney keeps at the pace he is.

            • senora ramos says:

and by argentine i obvs mean argentina

              • Thea says:

Agreed – it's between Messi and Rooney and both are sensational! And I have an inkling that Argentina will be blinding at the world cup.

                • senora ramos says:

i hope so but diego kind of (a lot) sucks as a coach. i just hope the tremendous talent they have shines through

  20. Thea says:

    oh wow…. Yoann!!!!!

  21. Anya says:

    Good weekend.

Madrid boys won, although El Mister was disappointed at their attitude and style.

But they scored three goals, they hugged, kissed, showed some thighs and cute panties lines.

  22. MrsNesta says:

Arsenal won (Vermaelen chanllenging red card so fingers crossed) and thank you kickette for the Cesc and Song clip, I listened to every word – honest :) Bring on the Barca match!!

Juve – no comment (apart from Chimenti breaking his hand after the loss to Sampdoria, he punched a table!!!!!)

  23. Mayita says:

    I say:Yoann.

  24. tammyv says:

It makes me happy that after years of my trying the world has embraced messi = fraggle. He just is.

he was unbelievable as was the Man Utd v. Liverpool match. did every player end with a yellow?

  25. Amy says:

    omg Yoann… *dies*

  26. Ana;) says:

Great Yoann pic as always :P I never have anything bad to say about him!

Mixed weekend Arsenal went on top for 24 hours woo! But Thomas got sent off =[

Liverpool couldn't kill of Man U =[ Torres scored =]

    Errr…mixed weekend I guess.

  27. LizB (Mrs. Vucinic) says:

Amazing weekend for Roma, crap as usual for Liverpool. Ah well, one good result I suppose.
