I like both teams a lot so I knew I’d be both happy for the winner and sad for the loser. I couldn’t help but feel bad for Wes, Robben and Van Persie. Yet…I was happy for Iker and co. Maybe now finally Cesc will start on the team like he belongs instead of sitting on the bench all the time. And Wesley….I’m a Gooner since 2002…anyone notice that Sneijder kinda remnds me of young Freddie Ljungberg from the old Arsenal days? I think it’s the scrappy attitude, shaved head and the fact that they’re both a wee bit vertically challenged… ;) Really like Villa as well and would be hard pressed to choose between he and Wes. So….who gets the Golden Boot; does anyone know?

  2. Jo says:

Okay, so none of you are bothering to stay on topic? Fine, I’ll have a go. I’m a neutral in the slugfest but I’ll vote for Wee Wes in this one.

  3. RedAne says:

Congrats to Spain!! Commiserations to Holland.

    And to stay on topic:

WES (it always was and it's always gonna be) WES!!!

Seeing him sob after the match last night broke my heart into pieces!!!

I so wish I could be Yolanthe then…

  4. Rezia says:

Spain DESERVED the World Cup!! They played some beautiful beautiful football, while the Netherlands resorted to thuggish fouls. La Furia Roja baby!!! :D
And I think I am in love with Iker after seeing him cry. SO touching! I didn’t really see his appeal (aside from the in-your-face sexiness) before, especially when Pique and Dah-veed Villa offer so much in the way of eye candy, but I do now. Oh DO I now…
    Te amo Iker!!

  5. EternalDreamer says:

Congratulations to Spain. Commiserations to Holland. As a neutral observer, all I can say is: freakish amount of fouls, but thrilled it didn’t go to a shoot out!

  6. keikoreo says:

VIVA ESPANA! From total nervous breakdown to complete and utter ecstasy, it brought tears to my eyes to see La Roja finally win it all! Congrats to the best team in the world!

  7. VeNia says:

oh for how long i have been waiting for this moment!!!on top of the world they must be now!!!!!and how cute was Xavi today???!!i really was touched when i saw Iker crying…and really amused when Cescy was dancing Waka Waka!!!Hilarious!

    • Lisa says:

All these years I have never seen what other Kickettes do in Iker or Cescy but seeing Iker cry and Cescy dance just now totally changed me. Spain, Kickette's favorite country, are now world champions. Where do go from here? God, is this the meaning of life?

      • elnino says:

        Cescy's dancing was cescy!

Kinda dumb but it's a nice word play.

        • VeNia says:

i was laughing for about 10 minutes!it was sooooo cute!!!god i love him even more now!!!

          • Syrian! says:

I missed it :( can anybody put up a link orso I cant find it or see it anywhere omg that must have been soo adorable <3

  8. Lisa says:

omg how hot was Cescy dancing the Waka Waka? now I see why he is an F5, that was adorably hot.

    • Syrian! says:

omg i must have missed it can u find it anywhere on youtube orso :(

      • Deb says:

If you get TELEFUTURA, the game is showing now. Luckily I have TiVo so I will have to take a look at the recording to see the Cesc dance. Xavi was getting his dance on too.

Loved the celebrations…so adorable! Iker's tears were SO precious.

  9. elnino says:

Iker was sooooooooo emotional first crying then laughing.
    Yay Spain!

  10. mcdreamy says:

    GO SPAIN!!!
Holland was awful with their fouls, didn’t deserve it.
    But 1-0 again? zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz……

Paul was right again. But for the next European Championship we will have to rely on something else. He’s already 2,5 years old and they usually don’t get older than 3.

    • elnino says:

They were. The one where Xabi Alonso got hit in the chest was the worst! It should have been a red card. He could have died. But, it didn’t happen and Spain still Won!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Steph says:

Oh, I know! It was horrible! Glad to see he was ok, though. He got hit pretty hard! :( And hey, everyone! I'm new to the site, and the game, but the World Cup has sparked my interest in soccer now. Especially because of the Spanish boys. ;) haha. Go Spain! :D Still SO excited that they won today!

  11. D0li says:

    SPAIN!!! <3 my Pique!

  12. Villa MaraVilla! says:

I'm so happy for Spain! Poor Xabi, de Jong should have been sent off with a red card. Does anyone have the video of the team taking the midfield and dancing to Waka Waka and doing the Stadium Victory lap?

  13. ElNino'sNina says:

I am SOOO happy for Spain!! They totally deserved it, considered what poor Xabi went through :O I don't think i have a single bad thing to say about any of the Spanish NT players (except when Pedro didnt pass Nando the ball in the semis </3 )But who could ask for a better team? Steamy ballers and steamy skills. gracias por todo Espana!!

  14. Inés says:

    Spain of course!

what a pity that Villa didn't score!

  15. Paula says:

Nice to see Iniesta score a goal, he should be sent off when he punch

Robben´s chest, was it? But … this world cup was really shady …

  16. LoveFootballLoveFoot says:

Pique was was was magnificent!!! My heart was like Pique! Pique! Pique! heard his name so much today during the game that only meant that he was doing his part and more for his team. Cuter was that when they were putting on their red shirts with their little star he put it on and the blue one he took off, he was trying to fold it and take care of it while the others just tossed them to the ground. I bet he's the type of guy that saves the receipt of your first date or the movie stub. Such a cutie and I'm going to say that even after his career is over because you can't change that!!! Love Pique.

    • Rezia says:

Awwwww he did that? I didn't see :(

He's the best. I love him sooooo much!

    • Catie says:

Isn’t he adorable?! He has always struck me as that kind of guy. His demeanor is always a little different, a little more quiet than other players, but it’s because he’s the guy who carefully folds his winning jersey and takes his time to savor things :) .

  17. senora ramos says:

my fav midget of the moment is iniesta, as i'm sure is every spaniards and spain supporter at the moment. i am SOOOOOOOOOOOO PROUD of our guys, though i would've been proud either way. we deserved the win today. i can't believe the netheerlands fouled as viciously as they did. i already hated de jong for his foul on stuhawk IN A FRIENDLY. my opinion on him has NOT changed. congrats to the netherlands for deservedly getting to the final. when vdv came on, it hurt me to cheer against him :(

sergio, please, please, PLEASE DON'T CUT YOUR HAIR

    • Deb says:

      Agreed…Sergio…leave the hair alone!

Really wanted Sergio (and Torres) to score today (okay…let me rephrase that…get a goal lol). :{ Poor Frenando…he FINALLY gets in and gets hurt. (bet his wife hopes it's not a groin pull! :P ) Must have been pretty bad cuz I didn't seem him in the celebration til they got on stage.

  18. Emma says:

Campeones, campeones, oooeee oooeee ooeee!!! I'M SO HAPPY!!!! And again, crying lol!!!

DON ANDRES!!!!! What a shot, my boys win!!!!!

Like I said in the previous post (the WAG one), Sara Carbonero has done a great job w/ WC coverage for Spanish TV and I admire & respect that. I'm fully accepting her as a fab WAG!

  19. Syrian! says:

OH MY GOD! Anybody noticed how hot Fabio Looked toay in his black suit :D OMG I had butterflys seeing himmm :D he looked amazingly hottt <3

    • LoveFootballLoveFoot says:

Sure did! Cannavaro had been my favorite Italian since Baggio and he was all sad when he said goodbye from WC's and now he was smiling like the capitano he is. He is gorgeous and I have so many of his pics that is hard to see any flaws. Gorgeous man!

      • mcdreamy says:

you are a typical example for distorted perception. Once the hormones got you your common sense shuts down. Cannavaro is a rat almost as bad as Materazzi, prone to foul everything and everybody that stands in his way (or runs for that matter, see opening minutes of the final 2006).

I don't know how anybody could admire him. Beyond comprehension.

      • Syrian! says:

lmaoooo I know rightttt hahaha hottttyyyyyy!
idk most prob u wont understand whats written but enjoy the pictures i would say :D

        • mcdreamy says:

You have just proven exactly my point.
Only an opportunist would root for a “sexy” man without character and values. I am saying it again: watch the final 2006 (whole game please). May be you will understand that no matter how “hot” a man might be (which by the way he isn’t) his character makes him a man… or a rat. Unfortunately, he belongs to the family of the rodents.

          • Syrian! says:

everybody has his own oppinion, I mean we dont have to agree about weither he has manners or not! u cant just judgd the man u dont even know him. We dont even know him. We are only saying we find him handsome or atleast I find him handsome. Anyways he might be what u think he is or not :) to me the older he gets the hotter he turns :D

            • mcdreamy says:

              true true, agreed upon.

I go for the whole package not just for looks. Of course I don't know him personally, but I can judge him for his character on the pitch and what I saw in many of his games I didn't like, so I cannot find him attractive, he lost it all for me. Each to his an dher own liking , though.

  20. Thea says:

vamos Spain! Am off to drink some VERY expensive champagne!!! Love to all esp my ladies, ramos, molly, nesta and trisha!!!!!

    • senora ramos says:

oh thea, i am so proud of our boys!!!!! i drank all of my cava b/f the match even started. had to run out and buy some more wine! lol!!

      • senora ramos says:

also, don;t forget barcelista. isn’t it great when blaugranas and madridistas can come together in common celebration and happiness :D

        • Zlatanista says:

Yes it´s great! And it is wonderful to see the players celebrating together!

  21. Zlatanista says:

Oh Iker!! So much emotions, my heart melts! And Andres, san Andres, he is a true hero!! I just don´t have words right now. I just love them all!!

  22. Linda (Gooner till I says:

I supported three teams in this tournament – France, Germany and Holland.

    France – fiasco

Germany – Semifinal, great display, best football

    Netherlands – Final

I hated only one team in this tournament – Spain (don't ask me why… it's personal) Well, they won. But I'm not gonna cry… congrats to Spain.

  23. Michelle says:

omg i love IKER! i love him ever more after seeing how emotional he got! THE BEST and HOTTEST team of the world cup deserved this win!

  24. C16 says:

YAAAAAAY! I'm not Spanish but this is sooo exciting!!!Viva España!

    Fiesta, fiesta, fiesta!

Iker stole my heart with his reaction. Gorgeous!

    Olé! :)

  25. PinkLlama says:

I'm so happy that Spain won, gracias España! I fell in love with the whole Spanish team ( mostly due to Piqué and all the La Liga matches I've seen), they are all such beauties :)

When Iniesta scored I almost hurt my ankle while jumping around going "yes! yes! yes!". :D As a final note, Paul the psychic octopus is a god! XD

(I hope Puyol doesn't cut his hair off!:'()

    • VeNia says:

i thought it was Ramos that said he was going to cut his hair if they won…well either way i don’t want this to happen!i prefer them just the way they are…:D

  26. MEER. says:

The Anti-Football won today. And so did the ref.

    • Zlatanista says:

Ridiculous! If the refs had done their job, more than one of the dutch players would have been sent off. Spain won because the have as much heart as they do have talent!

      • LoveFootballLoveFoot says:

I totally agree with the ones that said the refs faults where against Spain not at all in favor. So for someone to say otherwise I'm sure is purely out of anger. That foot to the chest could have turned into something worse. In Peru just a couple of days ago a goalkeeper got hit in the chest with a knee and with less force and now he's no longer in this world. Holland's player is lucky that not only he stayed in the game but that Xabi didn't get hurt to that extend. During those minutes with him on the floor my stomach sank as low as it could go and I prayed. I'm not from Spain but I wouldn't never want any player to get hurt no matter the country you come from. Spain won with hard work. Congrats!

    • Lisa says:

tonight I (and millions of football fans everywhere) lost all respect for Dutch football. The sad part is, going into the game I was still prepared to give Holland the benefit of the doubt; that they wouldn't resort to such dirty tactics. 9 yellow cards and one red is an absolute disgrace in any match, let alone a WC final. Tonight was a victory for the beautiful game. Spanish tika-taka. I really hope Holland get rid of players like Van Bommel, De Jong and Robben who go against everything the world whole liked about Dutch football. No wonder Johan Cruyff supported Spain instead of his home country.

    • mcdreamy says:

      bitter much?
Do you want a team to win that thoroughly relied on fouls as the last resort to fight against a technically superior squad?
I don’t. However, having said this, I think Germany played the most pleasant football to watch.
But to call Spain anti-football isn’t fair and doesn’t serve them well.

    • elnino says:

Yea, I mean afterall Spain was the one going around with their feet to people’s chest and tugging and diving when things went wrong (Robben). You can say everything about this game but I don’t think you can say Spain won because of the refs. Holland got their because of the refs. Or do you not recall the Brazil game when Van Bommel hit again and again and was shown NO CARD? Spain won in a fair way because of their football.

    • Catie says:

While being a huge Spain fan, I went into this final with an affinity for the Dutch team and I was excited for either team to win. However, the way the Dutch played made me sick. Spain certainly had moments where they played right into it too (including Iniesta), but to say that they're the anti-football? The Dutch didn't play football, they mangled the sport. And I'm sad to say it because they really disappointed me as a budding fan. They are better than that and had the talent, but chose dirty tactics and brutality over football. They gained such a following and respect throughout this tournament, and this is how they chose to show that to the world? In the final? If they think bitter, physical, dangerous attacks are going to win them the cup, well they're in the wrong sport. For their sake, I hope they learn from this and get their sh*t together for 2014. I really want to like them again, but I can't condone what they did today.

  27. Alessandra says:

Spaniards did AND do it better.;) SO proud of them.

  28. Emily says:

    congratulations spain!

please send the word on to jesus navas that he could be (much more) beautiful if he merely adjusted his hair

    • Lex says:

Hmmm I didn’t even notice his hair. I was too busy being mesmerized by his eyes….

  29. Elisabeth says:

WHERE IS TORRES? They never showed him after he was laying on the ground :(
