Would You? Santino Quaranta, D.C. United

We may not know much about the MLS, but we commend the hiring process and priorities of D.C. United.

It was a sad, less attractive day when one of fav DC United players, Bobby Boswell, moved on to play for the Houston Dynamo, a team we know exactly nothing about, other than the fact that they may be located in Texas. If you will remember, Bobby was rated the 2006 Defender of the Year, is tall like a mofo and had no issues with going on record exclusively for us to rank the various “mingers” we had chosen for our Finest Five list.

Luckily, the powers that be at DC United understand the importance of replacing one hottie with another, and made sure to bring in 23-year-old Santino Quaranta.  He is, you will be glad to know, hella tall also – 6’1”. We have yet to get his opinion on whether the time has come to remove Lampsy from the F5 list, but we will do our best to stalk that answer out of his people.

A few bits of random info for you on Mr. Q, a true bad boy gone good: he’s battled back from a serious drug addiction to rebuild his career – and is not afraid to speak publicly on the subject, is the eldest of four boys, was one of the youngest players in the MLS, and has a daughter named Olivia.

Do you fancy him?  We appreciate, but we’re only about 75% on board.  We still miss the Boz in black.

Yea, the first thing I thought of when I saw him was that he reminded me of Michael Ballack. Of course, I still prefer Ballack himself. GO GERMANY!

  2. Innocenza says:

He spent the first five years of his career at DC, it's good to see him back where he belongs. As for Tino himself… I ran into him on the street when the 2005 Gold Cup was in town. He's nice – really easy to talk to, has a sense of humor, and definitely is that cute up close.

  3. CR7 Lover says:

Ooh he’s very hot. I just might start watchig MLS.

  4. dcubetcha says:

Ah, yes. DC United. My home team and subject of much speculation as far as recruiting goes. I mean: Quaranta, Emilio, Cordeiro, Simms, Carvallo, Stratford, Zaher (of JoJo music video fame – WTF?), and my personal favorite McTavish (sizzle). What gives? Not that I’m complaining… And don’t get me wrong, Santino adds so much to the team, but I’m almost happy when he gets subbed out because I KNOW the jersey’s comin’ off. Apologies for the rant.

I’m now in love with Johnna

  6. Genevieve says:

The tatts really put me off… so I wouldn't. But I did consider it for a while til I noticed them

  7. Brandy says:

Nah. Too many tats and one more daughter than I like a single man to have. I'll pass on him but I am all for having Frank removed! I'm voting for bringing Mutu back!

  8. Sarah x says:

Keep Frank!!! Put Him In The Hot H.O.F instead, Replace Ljungberg, Anything But Frank!!

  9. TammyV says:

Frank Stays… See Vaca photos for reason! I am a huge DC United girl and love this kid. I really hope he gets his sh*t together and can live up to his potential!

  10. Venice says:

He looks a little Ballack-y. I'll pass. And lol @ 6'1 being "hella tall"!

  12. Johnna says:

Oi Kickette. The team that Bobby Boswell transferred to just happens to be reigning MLS Champions 2 years running. There are some hotties on the Dynamo as well, see Brian Ching. But Houston is a far better team than DC United, and we have the silverware to prove it.

  13. hipotecas says:

It is really a nice post, its always great reading such posts, this post is good in regards of both knowledge as well as information. they seem a little too cartoonish for my liking. He’s not what I’d normally deem to be my cup of tea, but he looks pretty good in this photo. I definitely wouldn’t kick him out of bed for eating crackers. Thanks for the post.

  14. I think this is disapointing news for MLS in general. Santino is a young kid with a lot of talent. It is a pity he is wasting it. Too bad.

  15. Nina says:

Answer: I would in a heartbeat. He is like the badboy Bobby Boswell but even better because he has his head screwed on straight now and is all about the things that are important Look past the tats ladies. And look at what the big one says, “Family”.

    That’s enough for me! smile

  16. MrsXabiAlonso says:

    Would I? No.

  17. Amanda says:

I love Tino and all, and thanks for highlighting him, but don’t you think “bad boy” minimizes the seriousness of what he and his family have been through?  Bad boy makes me think of, like, a player who gets carded a lot, not someone who had a $250,000 drug habit.

  18. Shell says:

Em- YES PLEASE!! I most definitely would…

  19. The Fourth Official says:

Kickette, are you kidding me? I have never heard of this guy, but if he walked into my office at this very moment, I would . . . . well, I'm a lady, so I won't say. But I DEFINITELY would. Fresh Legs Blog

i was reading with sooo much interest until u put the brakes on the daughter part!!! bleh… but i think its so adorable a guy 23 years old is able to take responsibilities of that sort n still be that HOT!.. phew…

  21. Alexandra Pato says:

i agree with anyone who says he looks like Ballack. i don't really consider that a good thing

  22. Emily (Giggsy's says:

I don't like his tattoos — they seem a little too cartoonish for my liking. He's not what I'd normally deem to be my cup of tea, but he looks pretty good in this photo. I definitely wouldn't kick him out of bed for eating crackers. Oh, and despite the shirtless beach photos, I think Frank's time on the F5 is up. There are far hotter men who have proven that they are finer than Frank. I vote for Roque Santa Cruz to replace him! :D

  23. AJ says:

    Why yes, I would.

  24. Moongirl says:

Im liking the tatts and the height and I don't even mind the Ballackness but for some reason I just aren't loving him!

  25. Portia says:

    i'ma lookin, and i'ma likin.

  26. Ali Van Der Sar says:

Not bad at all. He also had a go on our senior USMT for a bit. He'll have to step his game up if he wants to make it back on the team though, I'd like to see that happen cuz he's certainly is nice to look at.

  27. Pavi (Mrs Metzelder) says:

Yes I would. He has some gorgeous eyes. I should definitely get some tickets to a DC United match to watch him in action and report back to you ladies.

  28. Sarah says:

Oh, also Kickette, you spelled his name wrong. Quaranta, not Quantara.

  29. Sarah says:

Hey, they just had an article in the Post about him! I've been a (casual, as I'm not that into MLS) fan for a while, but I had no idea about the drug thing until I read the sports page last weekend. I really respect that he's spoken out about his problems, and I'm loving the tatts. Definite yes for me!

  30. Elise says:

I just googled him and can't find any other pics in which he looks anywhere near this hot, so…I'm reserving judgement here, but definitely 'hell NO' on the replacing Frank issue. Put down the crack pipe, Kickette! lol

  31. FootballerChick43 - says:

I'm on the boat – he does remind me of Ballack, which is probo why I'm right now scoping out Santino love.

  32. cheryl loves lamps says:

hmmmmmm who’d have thought the mls have such good looking players(next to becks of course) i thought they were in europe!! oh well he’s really yummy

  33. Cesc's lil bird says:

I sure as hell am on board with this one! He’s friggin’ smoking, ladies. Why wouldn’t you want this piece of meat… not that men are pieces of meat because I’m not a pervert. Well partially…

  34. lose that girl says:

Erm….no. Like Emily, I don’t like the tatts. Plus, there’s something about him that reminds me of Michael Ballack – my ultimate no-go zone!
