Yoann Gourcuff: Counting Down The Trophee Des Champions Days

Here’s a splendidly fluffy-haired clip of YoGo discussing the Trophee Des Champions in his native language. The middle bit goes completely over our English-as-a-first-and-only-language heads, but what a delightfully handsome boy he is all the same.

Kickettes, have we informed you yet of our upcoming attendance at the Lyon vs Montpellier match that Lashes is plugging (scheduled for 28 July in New York City)?

Ah. So we see we have. On more than one occasion.

Forgive our VIP seat, open bar and Giroud/Gourcuff within touching distance excitement.

I still haven't recovered from the devastation of Lashes not being at Euro 2012, so thanks Kickette for this small consolation. Can someone please explain to me why so many people have a hate on for this lovely man?

In all honesty, its because they are jealous of him! Thats pretty much sums it up.
Yoann prefers to read, avoid scandals, play chess, is articulate and has been bought up in a nutured footballing environment. Because of this, certain individuals (Ribery, who come from rougher backgrounds), thought they had a valid reason to bully him and single him out.
It was also France NT's intention to keep Yoann as a key playmaker in the 2010 WC and build their attack around him, which was naturally met with much disagreement and as a result…EVERYONE STARTED HATING ON HIM!
Sorry for the essay, but it just kills me how he got all this bloody abuse for no reason, whilst the instigators are living it up in Euro 2012!
I think thats the reason why he's had such a dip in form, because he's never fully moved on from the WC 2010 incident, along with all the injuries.

Hey, let's be fair. I love Yoann (and detest Ribery), but Lashes just hasn't been in form and he didn't even get to play a lot this last season because of injury. He had his shot in the game vs Iceland and in the lead-up training to that, but he just hasn't been performing well. He was cut because he wasn't good enough this year, and he has that ankle to deal with on top of that. Ribery no longer has that kind of clout among the players (many are new to the NT) and he really doesn't have the juice to push Blanc to do anything, especially after WC. By the way, Yoann does have friends on the NT, such as Hugo, their captain, so the idea that he's totally ostracized and without friends is weird.

I think I'm in the minority here, but I believe this is a good thing for Yo. He needs to recover form away from the spotlight. It was horrible how the French crowds booed him when he came off the field in Valenciennes. I don't think that's something he needs right now, especially since he's still got that never-ending ankle issue. Like Torres, he'll be back, I hope, and I'm really looking forward to seeing him at WC '14.

        • Jayy says:

Thats why I mentioned the injuries. Yoann's constantly had some sort of injury thats been preventing him from playing any domestic football, let alone any international football. And I agree with you on the booing – it was terrible and must have really knocked his confidence. Just how the WC incident must have knocked his confidence.
And I'm pretty sure Yoann does have friends (lol), have you seen the man?! How could he not have friends! It's only a few individuals that were unfair.

      • mata says:

Thanks for the info, I don't get to see much French football, but now I'm so mad, I dislike Ribery even more (if such a thing is possible).

oh god he is so handsome!

  12. Jayy says:

OMG OMG OMG KICKETTE – you have to get within touching distance of them. (And when no-one is looking, casually kidnap them).

  13. PhilippaB says:

Giroud might not be there, if the transfer rumour mill is right.
